The ideal candidate should have experience managing enterprise-scale high-availability database environments and be comfortable supporting both DB2 and Informix databases across production and non-production environments.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nDB2 Database Administration\nInstall configure administer upgrade patch and maintain IBM DB2 database environments across production development testing and disaster recovery environments.\n\nPerform day-to-day database administration including database creation configuration storage management user administration access management and database maintenance.\n\nMonitor database availability capacity utilization and overall health to ensure stable and reliable database operations.\n\nManage database objects including tables indexes tablespaces schemas views triggers and stored procedures.\n\nPerform regular database health checks and proactively identify potential performance capacity and availability issues.\n\nPlan and execute DB2 version upgrades fix packs patches migrations and configuration changes while minimizing business disruption.\n\nMaintain database configuration parameters and ensure database environments follow organizational standards and best practices.\n\nInformix Administration\nAdminister and support IBM Informix database environments alongside DB2 platforms.\n\nPerform Informix database installation configuration monitoring maintenance backup recovery and troubleshooting activities.\n\nMonitor Informix instances database services storage logs sessions and overall database performance.\n\nTroubleshoot database connectivity application performance locking resource utilization and other Informix-related operational issues.\n\nSupport migrations upgrades patching and maintenance activities across Informix environments.\n\nWork with application and infrastructure teams to ensure the availability and performance of applications dependent on Informix databases.\n\nPerformance Monitoring & Optimization\nMonitor and analyze DB2 and Informix database performance identifying bottlenecks and implementing appropriate optimization measures.\n\nPerform SQL query analysis and tuning to improve database and application performance.\n\nAnalyze indexes access plans database statistics memory utilization CPU utilization I/O locking and database workloads.\n\nIdentify inefficient queries and collaborate with application and development teams to optimize SQL and database interactions.\n\nPerform capacity planning and provide recommendations for database growth storage memory and infrastructure requirements.\n\nBackup Recovery & High Availability\nDesign implement manage and monitor database backup and recovery strategies for critical DB2 and Informix environments.\n\nPerform database restoration and recovery activities and regularly validate recovery procedures.\n\nSupport and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery configurations ensuring critical databases meet defined availability and recovery requirements.\n\nParticipate in disaster recovery exercises and database failover/failback testing.\n\nEnsure appropriate Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements are supported for business-critical database services.\n\nDatabase Security & Compliance\nAdminister database users roles privileges authentication and access controls in accordance with organizational security policies.\n\nEnsure database environments comply with internal security audit governance and regulatory requirements.\n\nSupport vulnerability remediation security patching database hardening and audit activities.\n\nReview database privileges and access levels and coordinate with security teams to address identified risks.\n\nProduction Support & Troubleshooting\nProvide production database support for DB2 and Informix platforms including support for critical incidents and service interruptions.\n\nInvestigate and resolve database incidents involving performance degradation connectivity failures locking deadlocks storage replication backup failures and database availability.\n\nPerform root cause analysis for recurring database incidents and implement permanent corrective and preventive measures.\n\nAnalyze database and system logs to identify underlying technical issues.\n\nWork closely with application infrastructure middleware storage network security and development teams to troubleshoot complex production issues.\n\nCoordinate with technology vendors and product support teams for critical or product-specific database problems.\n\nParticipate in on-call and 24/7 production support rotations where required.\n\nChange Documentation & Operational Management\nPlan and execute database changes in accordance with established change and release management processes.\n\nMaintain comprehensive documentation covering database architecture configurations operational procedures backup/recovery processes DR procedures and troubleshooting guidelines.\n\nDevelop and maintain database administration scripts and automation for recurring monitoring and maintenance activities.\n\nMaintain database inventory and configuration information across production and non-production environments.\n\nProvide technical guidance and database best practices to application development and infrastructure teams.\n\nRequirements5 years of experience in Database Administration with strong hands-on expertise in IBM DB2.\n\nProven production support experience with IBM Informix databases.\n\nStrong knowledge of DB2 installation configuration administration patching upgrades and maintenance.\n\nExperience with database backup restore recovery high availability and disaster recovery.\n\nStrong understanding of SQL query optimization indexing execution plans and database performance tuning.\n\nExperience monitoring and troubleshooting large-scale business-critical database environments.\n\nStrong knowledge of tablespaces storage management database objects locking logging and transaction management.\n\nExperience managing database security users roles permissions and access controls.\n\nGood understanding of Linux/UNIX environments and shell scripting for database administration and automation.\n\nExperience supporting databases in 24/7 production environments.\n\nStrong incident problem and change management experience.\n\nExperience working with application infrastructure middleware storage and security teams.\n\nStrong analytical troubleshooting communication and documentation skills.\n\nExperience within banking financial services telecom or other high-availability enterprise environments would be an advantage.\n\nRequired Skills:\nRequired Skills & Experience: Proven experience as a Solution Architect or similar role across multiple domains Strong expertise in Cloud platforms (AWS Azure or GCP) Experience in Data Architecture Data Engineering and Analytics platforms Knowledge of AI/ML solutions and frameworks Solid background in Software Engineering including microservices architecture and APIs Experience with
