Tech Lead - Backend

This is one of the senior roles in the company. You will be a trusted advisor on major engineering decisions. You will be responsible for the delivery and overall design of multiple modules built and maintained under your purview. Responsibilities:

• You will strive towards perfection and set a high bar of engineering excellence.
• You will improve the SDLC process with technical inputs.
• Understand product requirements and craft non-functional requirements, and come up with short-term and long-term solutions with high-level estimates.
• Build integration platforms using the right framework/tools with multiple third-party systems.
• In most cases, the expectation from this role is to create and manage a self-task list and time without supervision.
• The expectation is to show a timely impact with metrics.
• Responsible for highlighting concerns in processes, budget, team, etc. and working on the resolution plan with the engineering manager and CTO.
• Work closely with the engineering teams - developers, QA, DevOps, and UX/UI - to ensure a cohesive development process.
• Communicate with non-technical stakeholders to explain technical solutions in simple terms.
• Constructively discuss with stakeholders bugs vs features vs support, and unblock business whenever and wherever necessary.
• Management trusts you to make the best use of your time with minimum/no supervision.
• Your performance is measured with appropriate impact metrics and not the no.of hours you put in.
• Drive Digii's multi-tenant SaaS software architecture to scale to 10M students.
• Measure your systems' performance and tune for perfection.
• Responsible for ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Optimise infra cost with the help of the engineering team, backed by impactful cost metrics.
• Build prototypes with infra setup and setup framework for further development.

Requirements:

• 7-9 years of experience in software development at growth-phase startups.
• Problem solver at heart and data-driven decision maker.
• Excellent knowledge of software architecture, application design and development.
• Experience in building and scaling systems using Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, SQS / Kafka / AMQ, Redis, NoSQL databases, web services and performance tuning.
• Experience in building ERP software products with decent knowledge of cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent communicator to propose and review engineering designs.
• Experience in delivering end-to-end projects (0 to 1) with clear impact metrics.
• Experience in bringing clarity to vague problem statements and breaking down multi-quarter projects, with phased launches.
• Experience in building systems that have handled at least 100k users.
• Experience in building microservices that have handled > 100 qps in a live environment.
• Experience in leading/mentoring senior developers for a minimum of 3 years.
• Experience in ReactJS would be a plus.
• Experience in enterprise SaaS would be a plus.
• Proven experience in utilising AI tools and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, with a demonstrated track record of building AI agents or leveraging AI technologies in engineering projects, would be a plus.
