Accounts Executive

Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Executive based at our Marine Lines, Mumbai office. The ideal candidate will have strong, hands-on expertise in end-to-end statutory compliance-specifically TDS and GST -alongside solid core accounting, reconciliation, and ledger scrutiny skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Statutory Taxation & Compliance (GST & TDS)

• GST Compliance:
  • Prepare and file monthly/quarterly returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) and support annual filings (GSTR-9/9C).
  • Perform monthly GSTR-2B vs. Purchase Register reconciliation to maximize Input Tax Credit (ITC) claim accuracy.
  • Generate and manage E-Way Bills and E-Invoicing on the government portal.
• TDS Compliance:
  • Accurately calculate and deduct TDS on vendor payments under relevant sections (e.g., 194C, 194J, 194I, 194Q, 194H).
  • Coordinate monthly TDS challan payments and quarterly TDS return preparation (Form 26Q & 24Q).
  • Generate and issue Form 16 / 16A via the TRACES portal and resolve vendor withholding queries.

2. General Accounting & Day-to-Day Operations

• Record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, bank payments, receipts, and journal vouchers.
• Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), verifying purchase orders, vendor invoices, and payment schedules.
• Perform weekly/monthly Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS) and vendor/customer balance confirmations.
• Maintain and review general ledger accounts to ensure accurate classification of expenses and revenues.

3. Reporting & Audit Support

• Assist in monthly/quarterly closing of books, prepayments, accruals, and depreciation entries.
• Coordinate with internal and statutory auditors by providing requisite ledger extracts, tax computation sheets, and supporting vouchers.
• Support the senior finance team with ad-hoc MIS reporting and cash flow tracking.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

• Education: B.Com / M.Com / Inter CA / CMA (or equivalent finance qualification).
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of relevant, hands-on experience in accounting and Indian taxation.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in accounting software such as Tally Prime / ERP 9 (experience in Zoho Books is an advantage).
  • Working knowledge of government compliance portals (GST Portal, TRACES, Income Tax E-Filing).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, conditional formatting).
• Location Preference: Candidates residing in Mumbai with convenient access/commute to Marine Lines (Western/Central line connectivity).
