The role focuses on designing backend systems that seamlessly connect buyers and suppliers across the supply chain, from urgent equipment breakdowns to complex planned turnarounds.\nYou will engineer the systems that ensure real-time visibility, process automation, and intelligent orchestration of supply and demand, helping energy companies achieve operational excellence at industrial scale.\nKey Responsibilities\nCore Development\nDesign and implement RESTful APIs to enable real-time communication between buyers and suppliers, supporting both planned and urgent procurement needs.\nArchitect scalable solutions using microservices to ensure high availability and performance for live procurement boards, supplier sourcing, and real-time inventory visibility.\nDesign and optimise databases for complex supply-chain data, including supplier qualifications, inventory tracking, and performance metrics.\nImplement robust security controls, including authentication and authorisation via OAuth 2.0 with Azure Active Directory, ensuring secure access across multiple user groups.\n\nTechnical Excellence\nTroubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks in mission-critical systems supporting industrial operations.\nDevelop solutions that scale from routine maintenance to large turnaround events, supporting dynamic and real-time operations.\nBuild live control-room capabilities, automated data capture, and performance dashboards.\nLeverage serverless architectures to deliver cost-effective scalability.\nMaintain version control (Git) and collaborate effectively within distributed global teams.\n\nContinuous Improvement\nEnsure code maintainability through clear documentation, rigorous reviews, and adherence to standards for safety-critical systems.\nImplement monitoring and logging solutions for proactive issue detection and resolution.\nStay current with emerging backend and cloud technologies while understanding the constraints of industrial supply-chain environments.\nRequired Qualifications\n\nTechnical Skills\nMinimum five years of professional experience in backend development post-graduation.\nStrong proficiency in designing and implementing microservices architectures for complex, multi-stakeholder platforms.\nExtensive experience with SQL and NoSQL database systems, including optimisation for high-volume transactional data.\nProven expertise implementing authentication and authorisation mechanisms, particularly OAuth 2.0 with Azure AD.\nSolid understanding of serverless computing architectures suitable for variable-demand operations.\nProficiency with Git and modern version-control workflows.\nTechnology-agnostic mindset with strong conceptual understanding across multiple stacks.\nExperience building secure, scalable backend systems supporting real-time operations.\nStrong understanding of RESTful API design principles, especially in B2B procurement or supply-chain contexts.\nIndustry and Domain Knowledge\nOil and gas industry experience preferred but not required; willingness to learn MRO supply-chain complexities.\nUnderstanding of procurement processes, supplier qualification systems, and real-time operational data environments.\nSoft Skills\nStrong problem-solving and communication skills, collaborating effectively with diverse technical and business stakeholders.\nExcellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities critical to supporting time-sensitive operations.\nAbility to translate complex operational requirements into clear, implementable technical solutions.\nCommitment to clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.\nTeam-oriented with the ability to work independently where required.\nWillingness to travel for client implementations and operational support.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) supporting global-scale operations.\nKnowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nUnderstanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for continuous deployment.\nExperience with event-driven architectures and message-queuing systems for real-time notifications.\nFamiliarity with monitoring and observability tools for 24/7 operational systems.\nExperience with supply-chain or industrial software platforms.\nContributions to open-source projects and experience with high-availability systems supporting critical infrastructure.\nWhy Join Us\nAt digital.enterprises, AI is a partner to people, not a replacement.
