This person will be responsible for guiding the development of a mixed-skill engineering team, facilitating communications, providing clarity of vision and priority, and empowering the team to create creative solutions for our DigitalOcean customers.\nThe teams mission is to simplify the customer and developer experience so they can focus on building and operating their applications to Get Growing.\nWe are excited to meet candidates who share our passions for technology solutions, healthy services, and being loving service providers, team members, and leaders.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.\n10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4+ years in a senior leadership or management role.\nProven track record of delivering complex cloud-scale distributed systems, particularly in customer experience.\nLead a team of back-end software engineers developing gRPC APIs and operating infrastructure for our observability (metrics, logging, alerting) solutions.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills within a global organizational structure.\nDevelop efficient team methods to adroitly delivery value to our customers.\nCollaborate across the organization and consistently interface with UI, UX, customer success, marketing, and engineering teams.\nDevelop Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and utilize these Key Results to measure and report on the success of the team.\nCollaborate with product and engineering teams to define roadmaps to build the next generation of products for our developer community.\nReview and give input on architectural system designs.\nPair with leads on delivery of features, and resolutions of defects.\nCareer coaching including performance assessment, and career development.\nCollaborate directly with customers to learn more about their jobs to be done and how DigitalOcean can better serve them.\nEscalation path for the product on-call rotation, and drive improvements post incidents.\nTechnologies we use: Go/Java, Distributed systems\nWhat You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:\nExperience building software used by 1000s of users.\nIntegrate regular customer feedback into software development practices, and leverage customer feedback to drive features with a focus on always delivering value to DigitalOcean customers.\nAwareness and authentic interest in learning in areas such as Golang gRPC principles, infrastructure operations, large language models.\nRegularly give feedback to team members on wins, and areas to improve.\nLead a team where individuals enjoy coming to work, know what needs to be done, and have the resources to get their job done.\nEfficiently manage the team to deliver value for users and the business.\nIdentify issues impeding software development (across all phases of a service lifecycle from conception to maintenance) and collaborate with the team to resolve and improve.\nA commitment to delivering scalable reliable systems..\nSystems thinking.\nStrong opinions, weakly held.\n*This job is located in Bengaluru, India\nJR: 2026-8182\n#LI-Hybrid\nWhy You’ll Like Working for DigitalOcean\nWe innovate with purpose.
