We value winning together-while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world. \nPosition Overview:\nWe are looking for an engineer who will help lead the development and support of current and future storage platforms at scale, with a particular focus on Network File System (NFS) and scalable file storage solutions.\nThe Storage Team supports the operations and development of block volumes, backups, image management, object storage, and scalable file systems like NFS. Our goal is to create a cohesive, singular interface to hypervisor storage, where storage class placement decisions are transparent to the hypervisor client and leverage the full range of block and file storage classes to best satisfy customer needs.\nThe selected candidate will have the opportunity to make impactful contributions to key software, contribute to the open source community, and debug interesting problems at cloud scale.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable NFS solutions and distributed file systems.\nSupport the creation and operations of distributed systems at scale.\nProgram in Go and other languages to develop high-performance storage solutions.\nCollaborate with a motivated team of peers to architect, develop, and optimize storage services.\nContribute to and consume from free/open-source software communities, particularly in the file storage space.\nSolve complex, large-scale problems in a technically rewarding environment.\nKey Metrics:\nService availability (SLO/SLA): Monthly uptime for control plane and data plane (e.g., control plane ≥99.9%, data plane ≥99.95%); reported monthly.\nMean time to detect / recover (MTTD / MTTR): Median detection and recovery times for Sev-1/Sev-2 incidents; tracked per quarter.\nIncident volume & change-failure rate: Number of incidents by severity and percentage of releases that cause rollbacks or incidents; tracked per release and monthly.\nCustomer adoption & usage growth: Growth in active NFS customers, number of active mounts/clients, and total provisioned capacity (GiB/TiB) - measured QoQ.\nOperational efficiency / automation: Reduction in manual ops (on-call time, manual runbooks, toil) measured as % decrease in operational tickets or hours.\nFeature delivery: % of planned milestones delivered on time and meeting acceptance criteria.\nWhat You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:\nDeep knowledge of NFS, scalable file systems, and distributed storage architectures.\nExperience designing, deploying, and operating highly available file storage solutions.\nFamiliarity with Object Storage and distributed File Systems and how to scale those solutions.\nExpertise in concurrency/parallelismmodels in modern programming languages like Go.\nA passion for open-source contributions and collaborating with the storage community.\n*This job is located in Bengaluru, India\nJR: 2026-8243\n#LI-Hybrid\nWhy You’ll Like Working for DigitalOcean\nWe innovate with purpose.
