Because we are an employee-owned firm, your voice will be an essential part of our shared success.\nDillon has been listed as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for 20 years in a row and has the distinction of being a Platinum Club member in this program.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and Project management\nProvide a full spectrum of project delivery, from requirement gathering, doing site visits, preliminary design, detailed design, construction support, site reviews, commissioning, and troubleshooting for industrial, commercial, institutional and healthcare projects. \nInvolved in the design for power and electrical systems including but not limited to Power Distribution Low and Medium Voltage, Renewable Energy Systems, Motor Control, Lighting Systems, Emergency Power Generation, Fire alarm, Security and Communication Systems.\nPrepare technical specifications, drawings, and contract documents.\nPrepare technical reports.\nPrepare construction cost estimates.\nAssist with thorough site investigation/review for the purpose of creating deficiency reports or determining existing site conditions during the design process of renovation projects. \nAssist with construction administration tasks, including shop drawing review, responding to requests for information and issuing design-related changes. \nComplete the review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments for employee tasks.\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, technologists, and administrative support staff\nCoordinate with utilities, equipment suppliers, contractors, and clients on a regular basis\nPeer review to ensure all design meets quality and applicable standards including Canadian Electrical Code, CSA codes and standards, National Building codes, and others.\nBusiness travel upon request.\nLearning & Development\nCommit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development\nInput to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring\nContribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees\nQualifications\nAn electrical engineering technologist diploma \nRegistration as a Certified Engineering Technologist in the province of Nova Scotia or eligible to be certified within six months\nA minimum of five to eight years of work experience in electrical facilities-related design and consulting, however, less experienced professionals will be considered. \nExperience\nProficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to create and edit electrical design drawings.\nProficiency in Revit as a Building Information Modeling (BIM) design tool, specifically for electrical system design.\nIn-depth familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant building codes.\nSubstantial hands-on experience in the design and drafting of electrical systems, including the layout of devices, panels, and equipment.\nDemonstrated competence in organizing design projects and excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.\nIn addition to a competitive base salary, Dillon offers:\nFlexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life\nEmployee share purchase plan\nDillon is 100% employee-owned, and share ownership is open to all employees.
