You'll see how ideas move from concept to design, development, fabrication and installation-and how different disciplines come together to create something remarkable.\nThroughout the summer, you'll build practical skills, learn from experienced mentors, make connections across DI and leave with meaningful experience you can take back to school and into your career.\nYou'll work hard, learn a lot and have some fun along the way.\nCREATIVE TECHNOLOGY INTERN SUMMARY\nAs a Creative Technology Intern, you'll explore what happens when software leaves the screen and becomes part of a physical experience.\nYou'll work alongside DI's Creative Technology team to contribute code to real client projects, build interactive prototypes and experiment with emerging technologies. You'll learn how web applications can communicate with physical hardware like sensors, cameras, interactive displays and lighting systems to create experiences people can see, touch and interact with.\nYou'll also have access to DI's fully equipped technology workshop and be paired with an experienced developer who will serve as a mentor throughout the summer.\nWhat You May Work On\nContribute to web applications, interactive experiences and prototypes for real DI client projects\nAssist with front-end development using modern technologies, frameworks, tools and workflows\nExplore ways software can interact with physical hardware, including sensors, cameras, displays and LED lighting systems\nBuild and test prototypes in DI's technology workshop\nApply user experience and design principles to interactive experiences\nUse Git and collaborative development practices while working alongside experienced developers\nParticipate in project conversations, problem-solving and testing as ideas move toward finished experiences\nExplore emerging technologies and experiment with new ways to connect the digital and physical worlds\nWHAT YOU’LL LEARN\nBy the end of the summer, you'll have greater exposure to:\nDeveloping software for real-world, client-facing experiences\nBuilding web applications that interact with physical hardware\nWorking with sensors, cameras, interactive displays and LED lighting systems\nProfessional software development workflows, version control and quality assurance\nPrototyping, testing and iterating on interactive concepts\nSolving technical challenges within physical environments\nCollaborating with designers, developers, engineers, fabricators and other disciplines\nUnderstanding how technology, design and fabrication come together to create immersive experiences\nTaking an idea from early exploration toward something people can actually experience\nWHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR\nYou don't need to know everything yet-that's why you're here. But you'll be most successful if you bring curiosity, initiative and a willingness to jump in and learn.\nWe're especially interested in students with:\nExperience building interactive web applications using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, either vanilla JavaScript or modern frameworks\nFamiliarity with Git/version control and collaborative coding practices\nAn interest in creative technology, interactive experiences, physical computing or emerging technologies\nStrong problem-solving skills and a willingness to experiment\nThe ability to adapt and \"go where needed\" in a fast-moving creative environment\nA collaborative, positive and professional approach to working with others\nComfort trying something new, learning from what doesn't work and trying again\nStrong communication, organization and attention to detail\nStudents pursuing Computer Science, Interactive Digital Media, Electrical Engineering or a related field are encouraged to apply.\nWHY YOU’LL LOVE DI\nReal work.You'll have opportunities to contribute to actual client projects-not just hypothetical intern assignments.\nOne roof, a lot to explore.
