From immersive brand experiences and interactive technology to sports venues, museums, corporate environments and destinations, we bring big ideas to life-all under one roof at our Kansas City headquarters.\nABOUT OUR SUMMER INTERNSHIP\nAt DI, an internship isn't about sitting on the sidelines.\nOur summer interns become part of the team and have the opportunity to contribute to real client projects alongside professionals in their field. You'll see how ideas move from concept to design, development, fabrication and installation-and how different disciplines come together to create something remarkable.\nThroughout the summer, you'll build practical skills, learn from experienced mentors, make connections across DI and leave with meaningful experience you can take back to school and into your career.\nYou'll work hard, learn a lot and have some fun along the way.\nFABRICATOR INTERN SUMMARY\nAs a Fabricator Intern, you won't just get to see DI's projects come to life-you'll help build them.\nYou'll work hands-on alongside DI's experienced fabrication team to construct real client projects using a wide variety of materials, tools and techniques. Our work is highly custom, which means you could be building something for a professional sports venue, museum, corporate environment or entertainment destination-and the next project may be completely different.\nYou'll learn what it takes to turn drawings, designs and raw materials into finished experiences while gaining practical experience in a professional fabrication environment.\nIf you like working with your hands, figuring out how things go together and seeing something tangible at the end of the day, this is an internship where you'll get to do exactly that.\nWhat You May Work On\nHelp fabricate and assemble components for real DI client projects\nWork with a variety of materials that may include wood, plastics, metals, laminates and other specialty materials\nUse hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment and other fabrication tools\nRead and interpret drawings, blueprints and project documentation\nMeasure, cut, assemble and finish components with an emphasis on quality and accuracy\nLearn fabrication techniques from experienced craftspeople\nCollaborate with other fabricators and production teams to solve challenges as projects are built\nHelp inspect work for quality, fit and finish\nMaintain a clean, organized and safe work environment\nSee projects progress from individual components to completed experiences ready to leave our shop and head to the client\nWHAT YOU’LL LEARN\nBy the end of the summer, you'll have greater exposure to:\nBuilding custom, one-of-a-kind projectsin a professional fabrication environment\nSafely and effectively using a variety of fabrication tools and equipment\nWorking with different materials and understanding how each behaves\nReading and interpreting drawings, blueprints and measurements\nApplying fractions, decimals, basic geometry and both standard and metric measurements to real projects\nUnderstanding fit, finish, quality and craftsmanship expectations\nProblem-solving when you're building something that doesn't come with a set of instructions\nWorking efficiently as part of a production and fabrication team\nUnderstanding how design and engineering decisions translate into the way something is actually built\nSeeing how projects move from drawings and raw materials to finished client experiences\nWHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR\nYou don't need to be an expert fabricator yet-that's why you're here. We're looking for students who like to make things, aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and want to learn from people who build remarkable things every day.\nYou'll be most successful if you bring:\nAn interest in fabrication, woodworking, manufacturing, construction or building things by hand\nExperience with finish carpentry, cabinet making, custom woodworking, finishing or plastics is a plus\nFamiliarity with hand and power tools\nBasic knowledge of fractions, decimals and geometry\nFamiliarity with both standard and metric measurements\nExperience reading or interpreting blueprints and drawings is a plus\nComfort using measuring tools and working accurately\nA strong eye for quality and attention to detail\nA positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to jump in where needed\nAn interest in creative problem-solving and custom manufacturing\nA commitment to working safely in an active fabrication environment\nStudents pursuing Construction, Carpentry, Cabinetmaking, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Sculpture or a related program are encouraged to apply.\nWHY YOU’LL LOVE DI\nReal work.You'll help build actual client projects-not practice pieces or hypothetical intern assignments.\nMake something people will experience.The things that leave our shop end up in real spaces-from sports venues and museums to corporate environments and entertainment destinations.\nNo assembly line here.DI specializes in highly custom work. You'll get exposure to different materials, processes and challenges instead of building the same thing over and over.\nLearn from people who know how to build.You'll work alongside experienced fabricators and craftspeople who can teach you techniques, answer questions and help you develop your skills.\nSee the whole process.Because designers, engineers, technologists and fabricators work together at DI, you'll get to see how an idea moves from a concept on a screen to something you're helping build with your own hands.\nBuild skills you can take with you.You'll leave the summer with practical experience using tools, reading drawings, working with materials and solving real fabrication challenges.\nEmployee-owned.DI is an ESOP company, which means our employees share in the success of the company and bring an owner's mindset to the work we do.\nA summer that's more than work.You'll also have opportunities to connect with fellow interns and DI employees through intern events, activities and experiences throughout the summer.\nADDITIONAL DETAILS\nThe Fabricator Internship is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt) summer internship based onsite at Dimensional Innovations' Kansas City-area headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas.\nSummer 2027 Internship Dates: June 7th - August 6th\nApplication Deadline: December 31st - but the earlier the better, these internships fill quickly\nSchedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 40 hours per week\nLocation: Overland Park, Kansas\nWork Arrangement: Onsite\nWe'd love to see examples of things you've built, made, repaired or created.\nDon't worry if you don't have a traditional portfolio. School projects, shop projects, woodworking, furniture, construction projects, personal builds and other hands-on work are all great ways to show us what you can do.\nPhotos are completely acceptable. If possible, tell us a little about what you built, what your role was and what tools or techniques you used.","description_format":"text","description_chars":7150,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Higher Education","Content Creation"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-06T16:34:15Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":92,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.925,"p_room":1,"age_days":6,"expected_fill_days":22,"reasons":["conf:20","urgency","win:early","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-13T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/dimensional-innovations-fabricator-intern","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/dimensional-innovations-fabricator-intern.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-13T20:05:40Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":30908,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-14T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2387185},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2387185"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fdimensional-innovations-fabricator-intern"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fdimensional-innovations-fabricator-intern"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fdimensional-innovations-fabricator-intern"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/dimensional-innovations-fabricator-intern\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fdimensional-innovations-fabricator-intern"}]}
