See our benefits and perks page for details.\n\nApplicants for this position must not now, nor at any point in the future, require sponsorship for employment\n\nWHAT YOU’LL DO:\nPlay a key role in modernizing Mutual of Omaha's Life Insurance platform through the development and support of enterprise APIs and integration solutions.\n\nDesign, develop, deploy, and support Java and Spring Boot applications within AWS cloud environments.\n\nDevelop and maintain RESTful APIs and reusable integration services that enable secure connectivity with third-party vendor solutions,customers, and business partners.\n\nDesign and implement MuleSoft integrations using Anypoint Platform, DataWeave, and API-led connectivity principles.\n\nPartner with business and technology teams to translate requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.\n\nServe as a senior technical contributor by mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, and promoting software engineering best practices.\n\nInfluence application design, API standards, integration architecture, and technical direction across the team.\n\nCollaborate with architects and engineering leaders to evaluate emerging technologies and advance modernization initiatives.\n\nPromote operational excellence through automation, CI/CD practices, continuous improvement, and quality-focused development.\n\nLead by example in delivering secure, resilient, and high-performing software solutions\n\nWHAT YOU’LL BRING:\n5+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise software solutions.\n\nExperience leading medium to large projects from a technical perspective - leading other engineers within the project to provide technical guidance and direction\n\nStrong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and microservices architectures.\n\nExperience developing and supporting applications in AWS cloud environments.\n\nExperience designing, building, and supporting enterprise integrations using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.\n\nStrong understanding of API design, API lifecycle management, security standards, and integration patterns.\n\nExperience utilizing AI tools and implementing AI-enabled solutions to enhance software development, improve team productivity, accelerate delivery, and support day-to-day technical decision-making.\n\nExperience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and business domains.\n\nExperience mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.\n\nAbility to influence technical direction and participate in architectural and design discussions.\n\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.\n\nYou promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.\n\nAbility to work remotely with reliable high-speed internet access while residing in the United States or Puerto Rico.\n\nPREFERRED:\nExperience with relational and non-relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.\n\nExperience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript development.\n\nExperience designing and supporting event-driven architectures and messaging solutions.\n\nExperience working within a SAFe Agile environment.\n\nPrevious experience serving as a technical lead, senior developer, or mentor within an engineering organization.\n\nExperience supporting large-scale modernization, integration, or digital transformation initiatives.\n\nThis role is classified as remote; however, periodic in-person attendance will be required at times for activities such as quarterly or project planning, training, or other business-critical meetings.\nWe value diverse experience, skills, and passion for innovation.
