It includes financial budgeting, forecasting, and accounting applications for the financial transactions within Discovery Health and it’s subsidiaries. \n\nKey purpose\n\nThe role is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in the execution of day-to-day, monthly, and annual finance activities. The role oversees core finance administration, ensures the integrity of financial records, supports financial reporting and budgeting processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, delivering accurate reporting, and driving continuous process improvements within the finance function.\n\nKey Outputs\n\nPerform recons for supplier payments and meet the contractual timelines of these payments.\n\nMaintenance of a fixed asset register, including additions, disposals and depreciations calculations.\n\nAssist with cash flow monitoring and treasury related activities.\n\nPrepare and review monthly journal entries.\n\nPerform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.\n\nPrepare and review income statement and balance sheet analyses.\n\nAssist with month-end close activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting.\n\nSupport the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.\n\nReview accruals, provisions, prepayments, and other accounting adjustments.\n\nEnsure compliance with accounting standards and company accounting policies.\n\nAssist business stakeholders with financial information and reporting requirements.\n\nSupport the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.\n\nCoordinate information requests during internal and external audits\n\nPrepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual financial statements.\n\nAssist with tax, statutory, and regulatory reporting requirements.\n\nCompetencies\n\nCommunication\n\nInnovation\n\nTenacity\n\nDrive\n\nTime Management\n\nAbility to work effectively within a team and independently\n\nTeam player\n\nAttention to detail\n\nAccounting / numeracy skills\n\nMeeting reporting deadlines\n\nAccuracy, validity, and completeness of information produced \n\nExperience and Qualifications\n\nCompleted BCom /B Accounting degree\n\nCompleted SAICA articles or studying towards a professional accounting qualification will be advantageous\n\nMinimum 1 – 2 years working experience in Finance\n\nIn addition to the above, Minimum 1 – 2 years leadership experience\n\nGood understanding of accounting principles and application thereof\n\nMS Outlook\n\nIntermediate level Excel\n\nAdvantageous\n\nSage Pastel\n\nOnestream\n\nEMPLOYMENT EQUITY \n\nThe Company’s approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
