Please click here to apply internally.\nThis role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Makena Golf & Beach Club , set on Maui, HI.Makena is seeking a Pastry Cook 1 to join the Food and Beverage Department.\nThe Pastry Cook 1 will be responsible to take direction towards innovative technique in pastry, bakery, and presentation of the baking program and all desserts. The Pastry Cook will be responsible for items including casual dining to fine dining experiences within the club, producing the Club’s Pastry standards in desserts. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.\nKey Responsibilities\nCreate, prepare, produce and bake pastries, breads, rolls and desserts for the club\n\nPrepare pastry food items according to designated recipes and quality standards\n\nCreate pastry menu pairings with dinner menus/themes with Executive or Sous Chef\n\nMaintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation standards\n\nAble to work all stations both AM and PM shifts. Assist in all areas of kitchen when needed.\n\nMaintain 100% quality food production at all times.\n\nMeet timing of food items as required.\n\nEnsure food is properly and safely stored. Responsible to ensure that food items are properly rotated, labeled and dated.\n\nMake sound decisions base on the needs of the club.\n\nResponsible for timely and complete set up of culinary station equipment, breaking down and putting away all items on workstation.\n\nReport necessary equipment repair and maintenance.\n\nAnticipate problems and notify chef on duty.\n\nBe flexible and willing to work schedules and shifts that accommodate business needs. Must be willing and able to work at special events on and off site, and or, at comfort stations.\n\nIn the absence of a steward, must be able to wash dishes, pots, and pans as needed.\n\nBe able and willing to talk to guests about menus, special requests, etc.\n\nMaintain logs and documentation as required.\n\nTrain and ensure safe work practices are followed, including the correct lifting techniques and use of equipment.\n\nReport to work on time and as scheduled.\n\nComply with all Company policy and procedures.\n\nComplete other duties and tasks as assigned by Sous Chefs and Executive Chef.\n\nQualifications\nAt least one year of line cook or prep cook experience in large world class resort, hotels and clubs required.\nCulinary degree and pedigree preferred.\nFood Safety Certification\nAt least one year of pastry cook experience in large world class resort, hotels and clubs required.\nKnowledge of culinary and baking techniques.\nAdditional Requirements\nPositive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.\nMust be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
