within established budget allowances in accordance with pre-planned menus in compliance with government and management directives.\nWhat you'll do\nEstablish quantity of food to be prepared for each meal according to the menu and number of students.\nCoordinate meal amounts with Cooks and Cook Helpers.\nInstruct and mentor Cooks, Cook Helpers and student interns in the safe, hygienic method of preparing appetizing, visually appealing meals.\nEnsure minimum waste through efficient storage, inventory, and food utilization.\nAssist in preparation of daily schedule, monthly/quarterly and seasonal meal calendars.\nAssign specific duties to staff and students and monitor/report work performance.\nCoordinate activities of Cooks and Cook Helpers in the preparation, efficient and timely arrangement, serving, and cleanup of meals.\nTake charge of all food service functions on assigned shift in the absence of Food Services Manager.\nOversee storeroom inventory through a perpetual inventory tracking system, and coordinate receiving functions of deliveries with Property/Receiving Department.\nDirect and assist in preparing food for special center functions.\nMaintain kitchen equipment in orderly, workable condition.\nEnsure work area is safe, clean, and sanitary at all times.\nMaintain required credentials and/or certifications of position. \nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred. \nMust have food preparation training and two years related experience. \nMust obtain SERV safe certification within 90 days of employment. \nExperience working with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency also required. \nValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by
