The Lead Design Engineer plays a critical role in advancing Divcon’s building automation capabilities through leadership, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLeadership & Team Development\nLead, mentor, and provide technical oversight to a team of Senior Design Engineers.\nDeliver ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development support.\nAssist the Design Engineering Manager in workload planning, project assignments, and resource allocation.\nReview and approve design deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance.\nEnsure team adherence to project schedules, milestones, and deliverable timelines.\nIdentify skill gaps and support development of training plans to enhance team capabilities.\nDrive adoption and enforcement of design standards, templates, and engineering best practices.\nTechnical Design & Project Execution\nLead the design of BMS and EPMS systems for hyperscale data centers using DDC and PLC control solutions \nOversee development of BMS and EPMS designs, including schematics, riser/network diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring details.\nTranslate mechanical and electrical plans/specifications into complete automation control designs.\nDevelop and review sequences of operation, control narratives, and system logic for complex systems.\nPrepare and review submittals, bills of material (BOMs), and device specifications.\nEngineer system architectures utilizing BACnet, Modbus, and IP-based networks.\nDesign and review custom control panels and support FAT/SAT and shop verification activities.\nApply NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, UL, and related codes across all design deliverables.\nQuality, Coordination & Continuous Improvement\nConduct and oversee QA/QC reviews of drawings, submittals, and as-built documentation.\nGenerate and review RFIs to resolve design clarifications with internal teams and external stakeholders.\nCoordinate with Project Managers, construction teams, vendors, and customers to ensure project alignment and execution.\nSupport commissioning, troubleshooting, and system startup in collaboration with cross-functional teams.\nLead development and refinement of drawing standards, CAD templates, and design workflows.\nProvide input on product direction, tools, and process improvements in collaboration with engineering leadership.\nEnsure accurate and timely development of O&M closeout documentation from construction redlines.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).\nAdvanced understanding of HVAC systems, control sequences, and DDC integration.\nIn-depth knowledge of control communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc.).\nWorking knowledge of applicable codes: NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, UL 508A, and local energy codes.\nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for control system design and documentation\nDemonstrated leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.\nExcellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nExperience\n7+ years of progressive experience in building automation, MEP design, or industrial controls.\nExtensive experience creating BMS submittals and designing DDC architectures, system layouts, and control panels.\nProven experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables.\nExperience supporting commissioning, startup, or system troubleshooting.\nPrior experience leading teams or overseeing engineering workflows required.\nPLC/HMI experience (Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens) a plus.\nP.E. or E.I.T. preferred but not required.\nPhysical Requirements:\nSit and/or stand for extended periods (typically 6-8 hours per day) while performing computer-based tasks and facility support tasks.\nUse hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, mice, telephones, scanners and printers.\nOccasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, or reach to access filing cabinets, retrieve documents, or attend meetings.\nLift, carry, push, or pull light objects and materials weighing up to 20-25 pounds (e.g., boxes of files or office supplies).\nHave sufficient vision (with or without correction) to read computer screens, printed documents, and small print;
