Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs and supports leading U.S. aerospace and defense companies. \nJoin us and help push the boundaries of what can be built.\nPurpose\nThe CNC Programmer is responsible for all aspects of the machining workflow, including process development, fixture and work-holding design, 5-axis CNC programming, machining, inspection, and general shop activities. This role will support the development and production of for automotive, aerospace, and defense applications. \nAs a technical expert in machining, the CNC Programmer will develop and implement innovative machining and fabrication technologies, collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams, and help advance new concepts through testing, validation, and the patent process. \nThe Role\nProgramming & Simulation \nAnalyze new parts and develop machining strategies, tooling approaches, and work-holding concepts, while providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) recommendations.\nUtilize Siemens NX CAM to develop, verify, and simulate 3+2 and 5-axis milling programs for first-article components and production runs. \nProduce probing programs utilizing MSP Perfect-Part for locating and on-machine verification. \nProgram trunnion and gantry-style CNC machines, including advanced 5-axis operations. \nGenerate comprehensive shop floor documentation, including detailed setup sheets, operator instructions, and tool lists to ensure seamless production handoffs. \nInterpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles to programming, machining, and inspection activities. \nExecute advanced machining projects supporting additive manufacturing programs. \nEngineering & Design \nDesign and develop fixture and work-holding solutions for R&D and high-rate production using Siemens NX CAD and established manufacturing best practices.\nCollaborate with vehicle and component engineering teams to provide manufacturing insights and DFM recommendations during new product and program development. \nDevelop and implement innovative machining, fabrication, and work-holding solutions, including applications related to additive manufacturing. \nTest and validate new machining processes and technologies, refining concepts based on results and manufacturing requirements. \nContribute to the development of new manufacturing technologies and assist with documenting and advancing innovations through the patent process. \nShop Support & Innovation \nProvide hands-on support for first-article components, including CNC setup, machining, inspection, troubleshooting, and process refinement.\nApply practical machining expertise to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve process capability, quality, and efficiency. \nAssist with general shop activities as needed and collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to support program objectives. \nMaintain strict adherence to MES requirements, manufacturing processes, safety procedures, and shop standards. \nBasic Qualifications\nAbility to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls\nProficiency in CNC programming, setup, and machining, with a strong focus on complex 5-axis milling. \nExperience programming and operating CNC equipment, including the use of dynamic work offsets. \nStrong understanding of machining processes, materials, cutting tools, and tooling best practices. \nProficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles. \nFamiliarity with machine shop safety protocols and best practices. \nAbility to perform light fabrication, use hand tools, and operate manual mills and lathes. \nExperience using standard metrology and inspection tools.\nPreferred Qualifications\nProficiency with Siemens NX CAD/CAM.\nSiemens Team Center, MSP probing software \nExperience with Siemens and Heidenhain controllers. \nExperience with pallet systems. \nDevelop machining strategies for complex first-article components. \nGeneral understanding of automotive and aerospace systems. \nExperience with additive manufacturing and related machining or fabrication processes. \nHands on experience in Aerospace production environment \nWork Environment\nShop floor: Machine operation, handling parts, exposure to high noise levels and varying temperature conditions. \nDesk work: Programming, Design, Shop documentation and Engineering collaboration. \nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to bend, reach, lift to 50 lbs., and remain standing for extended periods. \nCompensation\nAt Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job.
