This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, driving architectural decisions, and delivering business-critical applications across engineering, manufacturing, and factory operations.\nAs a Senior Engineer, you will own large-scale initiatives from concept through deployment, influence technical strategy, mentor other engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver highly reliable and scalable software platforms. You will operate with significant autonomy and play a key role in advancing the software ecosystem that enables Divergent's automated manufacturing platform.\nThe Role\nFull-Stack Application Development\nDesign, build, and maintain production-grade applications using TypeScript, Node.js, React, and modern web technologies.\nDevelop robust APIs, services, and user experiences that support critical business functions.\nDeliver complex features and systems from requirements gathering through deployment and operational support.\nOptimize application performance, reliability, and user experience across the full technology stack.\nData Architecture & Systems Design\nDesign and evolve relational and NoSQL data models supporting large-scale manufacturing and engineering applications.\nDevelop scalable data architectures that enable analytics, automation, and operational decision-making.\nEnsure system integrity, security, performance, and maintainability across distributed environments.\nCross-Functional Impact\nCollaborate closely with Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics, Design Engineering, and Operations teams.\nTranslate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.\nServe as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders across the organization.\nLead technical discussions and influence decision-making across multiple teams and projects.\nMentorship & Engineering Excellence\nMentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and design reviews.\nPromote engineering best practices, software quality, testing strategies, and operational excellence.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives across development processes, tooling, and team effectiveness.\nFoster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and technical excellence.\nBasic Qualifications\nAbility to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent practical experience considered.\n8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant full-stack development experience.\nExpert-level proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.\nExtensive experience developing modern web applications using React or comparable front-end frameworks.\nStrong expertise in relational and NoSQL database design, data modeling, and system architecture.\nDemonstrated experience designing and delivering large-scale, production-ready software systems.\nExperience leading complex technical initiatives spanning multiple projects or teams.\nStrong software design, debugging, performance optimization, and troubleshooting skills.\nExceptional written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience building software platforms for manufacturing, industrial automation, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or defense environments.\nExperience with cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and event-driven applications.\nExperience with Kubernetes, Docker, and modern infrastructure platforms.\nExperience building CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.\nExperience integrating enterprise systems such as ERP, PLM, MES, or manufacturing execution platforms.\nDemonstrated track record mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence across teams.\nExperience influencing technical strategy and architectural direction.\nWork Environment\nThis position is based onsite at Divergent's headquarters in Torrance, California.\nExpected onsite schedule is four days per week.\nCompensation\nThis position is aligned to E05 - Senior Engineer within Divergent's Engineering Career Framework.\nE05 - Senior Engineer: $141,380 - $194,390 + Equity \nPay Range\n$122,430—$224,500 USD\nWhat We Offer:\nHolistic Compensation Package: Enjoy a world-class compensation package that includes a competitive salary, equity plan, and discretionary results-based incentive bonus opportunities, ensuring you're truly valued for your contributions.\nWellness and Time Off: Embrace a healthy lifestyle with paid vacation, sick time, and company holidays, including a year-end shutdown to recharge.
