In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, controls, automation, and advanced manufacturing to create highly reliable machine control solutions that directly impact production performance and print quality.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role focused on real-world hardware integration, high-performance software architecture, and intelligent automation in a fast-paced R&D and production environment.\nThe Role\nDesign and develop real-time machine contraol software for proprietary industrial 3D printing systems\nBuild robust multithreaded applications in modern C++ for motion control, automation, and machine orchestration\nDevelop and maintain operator-facing GUI applications for machine monitoring, diagnostics, and control\nCreate simulation and modeling tools to validate machine behavior, optimize performance, and improve system reliability\nDesign calibration routines, fault detection logic, and automated maintenance workflows to maximize print consistency and uptime\nCollaborate cross-functionally with controls, electrical, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to integrate software with complex mechatronic systems\nSupport commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts on production hardware\nContribute to software architecture, code quality standards, CI/CD workflows, and engineering best practices\nBasic Qualifications\nAbility to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls\nStrong proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 or newer)\nExperience developing multithreaded and/or real-time software applications\nExperience with Git or similar version control systems\nFamiliarity with build systems and tooling such as CMake\nStrong debugging, problem-solving, and systems-level thinking skills\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience developing GUI applications using Qt\nFamiliarity with OpenCV or other computer vision frameworks\nProficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or test tooling\nExperience with industrial automation, robotics, or control systems\nUnderstanding of real-time systems, motion control, or digital signal processing (DSP)\nExperience integrating software with electromechanical hardware systems\nFamiliarity with MATLAB, Simulink, or Simscape for modeling and simulation\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing workflows, particularly using GitHub Actions\nExperience working in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, robotics, or high-performance engineering environments\nWork Environment\nOnsite\n\nCompensation\nAt Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job.
