If you're looking to grow your career within an extremely reputable, stable Fortune 100 company - let's talk!\n Position Overview\nThe Systems Requirements & Validation Engineer will support the development and delivery of Human Machine Interface (HMI) display solutions for power, energy, and transportation applications, spanning current-generation display platforms and a next-generation display program. This is primarily a systems engineering role focused on requirements, validation, and verification, not a traditional software development position.\nWorking across the full product development lifecycle, the engineer will take customer and system needs, translate them into well-defined requirements, partner with development teams during implementation, and demonstrate through objective testing that the completed solution meets defined requirements and quality expectations. Programming experience is valuable, particularly for test automation, but the core focus is requirements engineering, validation and verification, systems integration, and product quality.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nRequirements Engineering\nPartner with internal customers, systems engineers, and technical leads to understand application and system needs.\nTranslate customer and system-level needs into clear, testable requirements and specifications for software development teams.\nDevelop, document, review, and maintain system and HMI software requirements, updating them as designs, customer needs, and project scope evolve.\nClarify requirements and resolve technical questions with software developers during implementation.\nWork with UI/UX resources to define display functionality, workflows, and interface requirements.\nDefine interfaces between HMI displays and other electronic control modules and systems.\nValidation & Verification\nDevelop validation and verification strategies, test plans, and test cases based on system and software requirements.\nExecute software and system-level testing, including functional, regression, sanity, endurance, and performance testing, to confirm implemented functionality meets documented requirements and intended system behavior.\nSupport validation of software releases for complex HMI applications.\nInvestigate test failures, identify clear steps to reproduce defects, and work with software developers and systems engineers to resolve issues.\nDocument test results and validation evidence in accordance with applicable ISO and internal quality processes.\nDevelop automated test scripts to improve test efficiency, repeatability, and coverage.\nSet up, configure, and maintain validation benches and test equipment.\nSupport investigation and resolution of customer and field issues.\nQuality & Systems Engineering\nParticipate in system-level and display-component Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), identifying potential failure modes and supporting prevention, detection, and validation controls.\nApply Built-In Quality (BIQ) principles to contain defects and prevent issues from escaping to downstream teams or customers.\nParticipate in design reviews, requirements reviews, technical deep dives, and New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Product/Process Improvement (CPI) activities.\nSupport harness design activities.\nDrive continuous improvement of requirements, validation, verification, and software quality processes.\nRequirements\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with 5-7 years of relevant engineering experience OR\nAssociate's degree with 9 years of experience OR\nMaster's degree with 3 years of experience will also be considered. \nExperience developing, documenting, reviewing, or managing technical requirements.\nExperience developing and executing test plans and test cases for software and/or system validation and verification.\nExperience validating embedded systems, HMI applications, controls, or similar electronic systems.\nFamiliarity with embedded software algorithms, controls, and electronic systems, as well as software development and testing processes.\nExperience troubleshooting complex system and software issues.\nFamiliarity with test automation and scripting, preferably in Python.\nStrong technical documentation skills with demonstrated attention to detail.\n Preferred Qualifications\nExperience with HMI or embedded display systems.\nExperience with requirements-to-test traceability.\nLinux operating systems, including Ubuntu or Debian.\nJava, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, C++, or related technologies.\nCommunication protocols such as J1939, Modbus, and proprietary OEM data link protocols.\nDiagnostic and validation tools such as CANalyzer, CANape, CADET, ModSim, OEM electronic service tools, or similar.\nStructured risk-management processes, including FMEA.\nData analysis using Excel, Python, or similar tools.\nChange Request Management (CRM) processes.\nWorking with external suppliers.\nKey Competencies\nStrong systems thinking, with the ability to understand interactions between hardware, software, controls, and HMI components.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nCommitment to quality, process discipline, and compliance while managing multiple tasks and priorities.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nEffective collaboration across engineering disciplines and global teams.\nOwnership mindset, taking issues from identification through resolution.\nBenefits\n401(k)\nDental insurance\nVision Insurance\nDisability insurance\nEmployee assistance program\nHealth insurance\nHealth savings account\nLife insurance\nPaid time off\nPaid Holidays\nPlease follow the link to our website for a list of job openings in Engineering, IT, Project Management, and more!
