Interns enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work environment throughout this 11-week summer program. The Ignite Internship Program also offers participants mentorship, educational seminars, volunteer opportunities, and visibility within the organization.The Finance Intern will support the Financial Planning & Analysis team with financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, business analysis, and process improvement activities. This internship provides hands-on exposure to corporate finance and an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a professional business environment while developing analytical, communication, and technical skills.\nEssential Functions:\nSupport monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including analysis of actual results compared with budget, forecast, and prior year.\nAssist with the preparation of monthly forecasts, the annual budget, and long-term financial projections.\nGather, organize, validate, and analyze financial and operational data from multiple sources.\nHelp build and maintain financial models, schedules, and management reporting materials.\nPerform research and ad hoc analysis to support data-driven business and financial decisions.\nPartner with FP&A team members and business stakeholders to understand performance drivers and communicate findings.\nIdentify opportunities to improve reporting processes through standardization, automation, and better use of data and tools.\nPrepare clear summaries, charts, and presentation materials for management review.\nComplete other finance and administrative assignments as needed.\nLearning Opportunities:\nGain practical experience in FP&A, management reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.\nDevelop an understanding of how financial and operational performance supports business decision-making.\nBuild technical proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, data analysis, and executive-level presentation development.\nWork with finance professionals and cross-functional business partners in a collaborative environment.\nQualifications\nRequired Background:\nCurrently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with formulas, pivot tables, charts, or financial modeling is preferred.\nAbility to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nPrior internship, coursework, or project experience in finance, accounting, data analysis, or business is a plus, but not required.\nExplore the Possibilities\nSouth Jersey Industries employs a diverse range of talent - from construction contractors to environmental specialists.
