AI makes us faster. It doesn’t replace our human judgment.

We challenge AI output, verify the results and own what we ship.

We experiment fast, learn quickly and deliver with care.

Your Mission

We're looking for a Technical Product Owner (f/m/d) who enjoys being right in the middle of Product, Business and Engineering.

You'll be part of the engineering team and share responsibility for the applications we build. You'll turn business requirements into clear, technically sound and testable work. You'll coordinate what needs to happen, challenge things when they don't make sense and make sure that "done" actually means done.

You will:

  • Bridge Business & Engineering: Translate business requirements into clear technical requirements, user stories, tickets and acceptance criteria that developers can actually work with.

  • Understand the System: Build a solid understanding of how UI, frontend, backend, APIs and databases interact across our full-stack applications.

  • Test & Investigate: Perform acceptance and smoke testing, work with APIs and validate data to systematically investigate whether something works as intended.

  • Drive Delivery: Organise and orchestrate work within the team, keep dependencies and open questions moving, and take features from idea to production.

  • Own Quality: Help decide whether a feature is ready to go live and develop a strong sense for quality, performance, monitoring and potential risks.

Your Skills

Core Competencies:

  • Technical Product Thinking: You can break down complex business requirements into clear, structured and testable work and know how to define meaningful acceptance criteria.

  • Hands-on Technical Know-how: You have practical experience with APIs, testing and data validation and understand how frontend, backend and databases work together.

  • Software Development Basics: You understand the fundamentals of Git and modern development workflows, including branches, commits, pull requests and merges.

  • Structured & Precise: You work carefully, pay attention to detail and create tickets and documentation that are clear, concise and easy to understand.

  • Curious & Collaborative: You ask questions, absorb new technical concepts quickly and communicate openly and directly with developers and business stakeholders at eye level.

Bonus Skills (The Power-Ups):

  • Experience with tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, Jira or comparable platforms.

  • Background in QA, software testing, technical business analysis or software development.

  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or similar.

  • Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS.

  • Experience working in an agile software development environment.

What to expect at smartclip

  • Remote-first, with meaningful time together: We work remotely most of the time, with occasional workshops, team sessions and opportunities to collaborate in person at our tech office in Berlin. We also host team events throughout the year, including our annual Company Offsite, which takes place at a different venue in Germany each year. Being willing to travel to and attend these gatherings is part of the role.

  • Ownership over micromanagement: Take ownership of your work and drive your topics forward independently.

  • Build > Talk: Try things early, get things wrong early, learn early.

  • High standards, low ego: We give direct feedback and work together openly and respectfully.

  • Keep growing: Develop your skills through hackathons, conferences and community exchange.

And of course, the benefits matter, too: 30 days of annual leave, plus December 24 and 31 off, Smart Fridays with the option of a four-day workweek, a Deutschlandticket (public transport pass) and JobRad bike leasing, sports and health benefits, mental health support, corporate discounts, access to RTL+ and much more.

Your CV is just the beginning.

What interests us more than your CV is a portfolio, a side project or a demo repo - something that shows us how you approach technical challenges and turn ideas into working solutions.

AI disclaimer: AI was allowed to contribute ideas, but it didn’t get the final say. We kept that privilege for ourselves.

smartclip is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment regardless of ethnic origin, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability or any other personal characteristic.
