This remote internship is your chance to learn from industry leaders, sharpen your skills, and make an impact on projects that power the digital world.\nPosition Title: Engineer Intern\nPosition Location: Remote - work virtually from anywhere in the United States\nJOB SUMMARY\nThe Engineer Intern will have the opportunity to engage in comprehensive training for the design of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems in buildings. They will learn, through hands-on application, how to design a wide variety of projects. This person will work as part of the Engineering Team and interact closely with the Project Management Team to produce construction documents, assist in project specifications and assist in the construction administration process.\nEngineers in this role may choose to pursue a project management focused career track, gain exposure across all three MEP disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing/Fire Protection), or progress toward deeper specialization. Specialization paths may include Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing/Fire Protection design, as well as advanced focus areas such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Power Systems Studies, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), or other mission-critical engineering specialties, based on individual interests, strengths, and business needs.\nThe Engineer Intern will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. They will work under immediate supervision and learn to navigate the business environment. This person will be expected to learn company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.\nThis person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nAssist in Production of Engineering Documents (50%)\nPerform basic engineering work and design tasks under a senior engineer’s supervision\nPerform standard computations and analysis\nLearn to utilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawings and visual aids\nAssist in the review of drawings details, schedules, sequence of operations and drawing content as directed\nAssist in Pre-Construction Activities (15%)\nSurvey existing building conditions and prepare technical reports of findings\nCollect data and other information for construction documents\nPrepare project design and construction documents\nAssist in Construction Activities (15%)\nWork as part of the engineering team and interact closely with the project management team\nReview shop drawings and submittals\nOrganize and prepare responses to RFIs\nAssist with punch lists and project closeout documents\nReporting (10%)\nPrepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders\nUpdate and maintain shop drawing and RFI log\nManage personal hours using company tools\nTechnology, Digital Tools & AI-Enabled Efficiency (10%)\nLeverage AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support consistent, high-quality work output.\nIdentify opportunities to improve processes and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset, seeking out new technologies, skills, and methods that elevate individual and team performance.\nAdapt to emerging technologies and evolving digital workflows, actively supporting the integration and adoption of innovative tools across the organization.\nCompletion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget\nPerforms Other Related Duties as Assigned\nProject Management Track would also include (percentages above would shift):\nProject Coordination and Support\nAssist Project Managers with day-to-day coordination of routine project tasks and deliverables.\nTrack action items, schedules, and milestones under guidance to support timely project execution.\nMaintain organized project files and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility.\nSupport coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders by relaying information and following up on routine requests.\nOrganize and assist in QAQC and compilation of work products (including subconsultants) for external distribution.\nPOSITION REQUIREMENTS (BEGINNER LEVEL FOR ALL THE FOLLOWING UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED)\nSkilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management\nSkilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail\nAbility to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace\nAbility to follow company and site safety requirements\nAbility to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence\nAbility to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)\nAbility to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with supervision\nAbility to work under pressure and meet close deadlines\nOrganizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe following physical demands must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This immersive experience, held at DLB’S training & collaboration space at BellWorks in Holmdel, New Jersey, is designed to help you build meaningful connections, gain hands-on exposure to our tools and standards, and develop a strong understanding of how your work contributes to our projects and teams.\nThe program provides dedicated time to learn, collaborate, and confidently step into your role alongside fellow design team members.\nAttendance and active participation in this training are required as part of your onboarding with the design team.
