This fully remote role is built for seasoned pros ready to own their work, innovate boldly, and lead with both technical depth and strategic insight.\nPosition Title: Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer\nPosition Location: Remote - work virtually from anywhere in the United States\nJob Summary\nPositions are available in our Mission Critical Department which focuses primarily on hyperscale data centers and related mission critical facilities.\nThe Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer will have the opportunity to collaborate with all design staff and oversee full cycle mechanical design activities. This person will work as part of the Engineering Team and interact closely with organizational leadership to develop and edit project specifications and lead design development efforts.\nThe Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer will be self-directed on day-to-day work and independently performs most responsibilities. Will lead project teams and projects of complex scope and broader programs. Will coordinate activities of other personnel. Assists in the development of policies and procedures.\nThe Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.\nEssential Functions\nLead Mechanical Engineering Design Activities (40%)\nIndependently perform advanced engineering work \nPerform advanced mechanical design tasks \nPerform advanced computation analysis and design tasks for complex projects, components and systems\nIndependently perform and analyze load calculations and energy simulation\nUtilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawings and visual aids\nReview and / or prepare book or sheet specifications \nDevelop and / or review HVAC controls sequence of operations \nDevelop proposals including project scope, schedule and budget \nTimely and effective management of project design team including resource forecasting and coordination \nIdentify potential project scope changes and aid in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines \nPerform QAQC peer reviews for projects where he or she is not the lead design engineer\nLead Construction Activities (20%)\nSurvey existing building conditions and prepares technical reports of findings\nCollect data and other information for construction documents\nPrepare project design, specification and construction documents \nLead the engineering team and interact closely with the project management team\nReview shop drawings and submittals \nReview and respond to RFIs\nReview and complete punch lists and project closeout documents\nReview and approve change order requests\nManage Stakeholder Relations (20%)\nResponsible for execution of the firm’s client value system and assuring that the project is executed in accordance with company policies and standards \nServe as primary client contact for one or more clients. May act as a Client Program Manager with business development and marketing responsibilities.\nAssist with research for technical papers for conferences and journals\nOrganizational Development and Continuous Improvement of Policies and Procedures (20%)\nMentor associates and assists with training and development to create a learning and growing environment \nContribute to organizational training and standards development \nMay assist in the strategic planning for the group \nMay assist with hiring process\nTechnology, Digital Tools & AI-Enabled Efficiency\nIdentify opportunities and lead the strategic use of technology, digital platforms, and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency through workflow automation, reduced manual effort, and improved accuracy in forecasting, documentation, reporting, and quality processes.\nSupport adoption of emerging technologies - including advanced analytics, data visualization tools, and digital construction management platforms - to strengthen readiness, quality assurance, and project controls.\nCollaborate with internal teams to ensure technology solutions align with DLB standards for data security, privacy, and operational integrity.\nPromote a culture that embraces innovation, continuous improvement, and the strategic use of technology to optimize performance and scalability.\nCompletion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget\nPerforms Other Related Duties as Assigned\nPosition Requirements\nKnowledge of designing mechanical systems\nKnowledge of codes, code analysis and specifications for mechanical systems\nKnowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD)\nSkilled at producing drawings and visual aids using AutoCAD and / or Revit\nSkilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management\nSkilled in performing and analyzing load calculations, energy simulation and system hydronics\nSkilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail\nAbility to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace\nAbility to select all HVAC equipment types\nAbility to create hydronic flow diagrams and specify piping accessories\nAbility to review and select DDC controls and fire alarm / protection system devices, determine points lists, write complex sequences of operation and develop system architecture\nAbility to follow company and site safety requirements \nAbility to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence\nAbility to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information) \nAbility to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact \nAbility to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision\nAbility to work under pressure and meet close deadlines \nAbility to effectively plan and delegate the work of others\nOrganizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously\nPhysical Demands\nThe following physical demands must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
