If this sparks your interest, you’re in the right place.\nDLR Group has an opening for a Senior Mechanical Controls Engineer. \nPosition Summary\nAs part of the engineering team at DLR Group you will be responsible for the design of control systems from schematics through construction administration for buildings across a variety of sectors including Higher Education, Culture & Performing Arts, Healthcare, K-12, Justice/Civic, Mission Critical, and Energy. As part of our integrated design teams, you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design. You will be responsible for participating in the design process of building systems and preparing detailed drawings and specifications.\nThe successful candidate will\nLead multiple projects and staff over multiple regions to assure local teams of engineers know the specific design criteria of projects and train engineering teams on design of control systems.\nAssure quality of design produced by teams through multiple touch points\nManage engineering project execution, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and scope while maintaining client expectations\nTrack project milestones and deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards and preparing regular status reports\nFacilitate and document meetings with staff and clients, coordinating project personnel, vendors, and consultants\nActively engage in business development initiatives by contributing to RFP responses, participating in client interviews and fostering client relationships.\nLead the design of building automation, smoke control, and electrical system control systems on projects.\nCollaborate early and often with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process\nCarry out technical review of interdisciplinary teams prior to issuance\nRepresent DLR Group at meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers\nMentor emerging professional engineers and assist in the development and implementation of controls standards firm wide.\nRequired Qualifications\n7+ years of experience writing controls specifications, creating controls system diagrams, and writing sequences of operations.\nFamiliarity with facility operations and maintenance of building systems\nWorking knowledge of the design and construction process and the ability to understand and communicate with professionals of other disciplines\nStrong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills, both verbal and written\nUnderstanding of business management and customer service principles\nKnowledge of building and energy codes\nDemonstrated record of consistent quality work\nAbility to lead others and foster teamwork\nKnowledge and support of DLR Group’s climate action strategy and commitments, including AIA2030, MEP2040 and SE2050\n Preferred Qualifications\nExperience with consulting engineering or A/E firm as an engineer designing mechanical, power, lighting, and/or low voltage systems.\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering or related field.\nLicensed Professional Engineer (PE)\n15+ years of experience working as an engineer, including design of building systems.\nExperience with SCADA systems design.\nExperience with integrating of lighting systems into a building automation system.\nExperience with integrating electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems into security and building automation systems.\nLEED accreditation.\nExperience with BIM including Autodesk Revit workflow.\nBuilding energy modeling experience.\nOur comprehensive Benefits at DLR Group include medical, dental, vision, disability, wellness programs, flex spending, paid holidays, and paid time off.
