This program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in laboratory operations, analytical testing, sensory science, and product development within a fast-paced beverage innovation environment. Working closely with the Laboratory Operations team and Product Developers, the Co-op will play a key role in supporting daily lab activities while developing technical, analytical, and professional skills.\nThis position is part of our 6-month Co-op Program, running from January 4, 2027, through June 25, 2027. The role is fully onsite at our Breinigsville Brewery location, with team members expected to work five days per week from our Breinigsville Brewery.\nKey Responsibilities\nLaboratory Operations\nSupport the daily functioning of the laboratory through instrument calibration and control beer analysis.\nAssist with maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring lab readiness for daily operations.\nFollow laboratory safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and best practices.\nSensory Panel Support\nBlend and prepare samples in support of daily sensory evaluation panels.\nEnsure samples are prepared accurately and delivered on schedule to support sensory testing activities.\nCollaborate with team members to support product evaluation and optimization efforts.\nInventory & Laboratory Management\nSupport weekly inventory audits to maintain minimum operating requirements for the laboratory.\nAssist with inventory tracking, organization of supplies, and replenishment planning.\nMaintain accurate records and documentation related to laboratory operations and inventory management.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nCurrently pursuing a degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or another Life Sciences discipline.\nMust continue to be enrolled in school upon the completion of the co-op.\nBasic chemistry or life sciences laboratory experience through coursework, research, or previous work experience.\nMust be 21 years of age or older.\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.\nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.\nStrong communication and problem-solving skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.\nExperience with OneNote, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and PowerPoint.\nInterest in product development, laboratory operations, sensory science, and analytical testing.\nWhat You'll Gain\nHands-on experience in a fast-paced product development laboratory supporting the creation and optimization of products across Boston Beer Company's portfolio.\nDevelopment of laboratory safety, technical, and analytical skills through daily laboratory operations and equipment management.\nExperience operating and calibrating analytical equipment while supporting testing and evaluation activities.\nExposure to product development workflows and the processes used to bring products from concept to commercialization.\nOpportunities to support prototype preparation, sensory evaluation panels, and product optimization initiatives.\nRegular coaching and mentorship from the Laboratory Operations Manager and Laboratory Operations team, including weekly one-on-one check-ins and daily guidance.\nOpportunities to work directly alongside Product Developers and other technical professionals across Research & Development.\nExposure to sensory science, consumer testing, analytical testing, inventory systems, SOP development, project execution, and cross-functional business collaboration.\nOpportunities to contribute to real business projects, develop problem-solving skills, and present recommendations.\nA comprehensive understanding of how Research & Development, Quality, and Production teams work together to bring innovative products to market. \nThe Boston Beer Company may use AI-enabled tools to assist with identifying qualified candidates and streamline recruiting operations.
