This role assists in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, safety, quality, and cost reduction across operations, transportation, warehouse, or manufacturing environments.\nThe intern will gain hands-on experience working with cross-functional teams while applying Lean principles, process improvement methodologies, and analytical problem-solving skills in a real-world setting.\nResponsibilities\nConduct time studies and labor utilization reviews\nAnalyze operational data and prepare reports, dashboards, and recommendations\nSupport Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives\nIdentify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements\nAssist with facility layout planning and workflow optimization\nParticipate in safety, quality, and productivity improvement projects\nConducts financial analysis for project payback and return on investment (ROI)\nCollaborate with operations leadership, HR, maintenance, and frontline employees\nSupport KPI tracking and operational performance metrics\nPrepare presentations and project summaries for leadership teams\nMaintain accurate documentation related to projects and process changes\nDevelop and/or improve standard work procedures to drive operational consistency, efficiency, safety, and process standardization across departments.\nWork in a safe and professional manner so as to reduce personal risks and risk to fellow employees\nComply with federal, state, and company regulations\nProcess all paperwork daily associated with the execution of the job\nPerform other duties as needed\nQualifications\nCurrently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or related field. Junior or Senior standing preferred\nMust have a cumulative 2.7 GPA out of 4.0 scale\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suit and data analysis tools\nStrong communication and organizational skills\nAbility to work independently and in team environments\nExperience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or process improvement concepts preferred\nKnowledge of workflow optimization and operational efficiency principles preferred\nFamiliarity with warehouse, transportation, manufacturing, or logistics operations preferred\nExperience with Power BI, Tableau, Visio, or similar tools preferred\nBasic understanding of statistical analysis and reporting preferred\nWorking Conditions/Physical Demands\nAbility to walk operational facilities, terminals, warehouses, or shop environments\nMust be able to lift 25 lbs. on an infrequent basis\nMust be able to sit, stand, walk, and observe for prolonged periods of time\nMust have the ability to safely enter and exit trailers, vans, flatbeds, forklifts and tractors\nMust have the ability to work around and operate motorized equipment\nMust be able to perform the essential functions of the job as specified in the job description\nMay be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures and dusty conditions in the dock environment; must be able to perform essential functions in these conditions\nDohrn Transfer Company, LLC is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer and welcomes all qualified applicants.
