Review the position below and apply today.\nWe offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.\nMilitary service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.\n Job Summary\nDominion Energy is seeking an Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Staff Engineer (engineering degree required) for the Electrical Systems Department within Site Engineering at Surry Power Station in Surry, VA.\n\nThe primary focus of this role is electrical systems engineering in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsibilities include monitoring and trending electrical system health, developing monitoring plans for assigned systems, preparing technical evaluations, reports, and presentations, and performing analyses of electrical and instrumentation and control systems.\n\nThe successful candidate will provide engineering support for operations and maintenance activities during both plant operation and outages. Additional duties include investigating equipment failures, developing and advocating for corrective actions, and providing technical support for troubleshooting plant systems. Other duties may be assigned as needed.\n\nCandidates will be expected to develop and maintain familiarity with nuclear power plant design, including the station’s Electrical Distribution System. A training program will be provided to establish a foundational understanding of plant design basis, operations, maintenance, normal and emergency operating procedures, and the work planning process.\n Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience\nThe knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:\nEngineer: 2+ years of relevant engineering experience; Senior Engineer: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience; Staff Engineer: 8+ years of relevant engineering experience;\nKnowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals;\nRequires developmental experience in a professional engineering position;\nCompetency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives;\nUnderstands and can apply knowledge of configuration management;\nAbility to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);\nPlanning, organizational and project management skills;\nAbility to develop and exercise leadership skills;\nEffective decision making skills;\nEffective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);\nAbility to think analytically and solve complex problems;\nAbility to interpret codes, regulations and practices;\nEqually effective working independently or in a team environment;\nAbility to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.\nNuclear employees: Must have at least one year of Nuclear power experience.\nIn unmanned systems, Engineers must have ability to hoist, lift, and maneuver equipment using proper safety techniques. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and maintain awkward or restricted positions as tasks require. Ability to remain standing for prolonged periods and perform work while on their feet throughout the shift. Ability to enter, work within, and exit confined spaces in accordance with safety procedures and applicable regulations.\nREQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:\nPossess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or\nPossess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or\nPossess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or\nHolds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.\n Education Requirements\nRequired Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):\nBachelor’s In Engineering\nLicenses, Certifications, or Quals Description\nNote: Dominion Energy minimum experience and education requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards and candidates must meet the Dominion Energy minimum requirements.\nFor Nuclear employees, this ANSI standard must be met, all of which is met or exceeded in the Engineer series job summaries with the exception of the Nuclear Power experience requirement of at least 1 year:\nANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 Education requirements: Baccalaureate or associate degree in engineering or related science.
