This internship will provide hands-on exposure to the surveying, civil design, construction, operation, & maintenance of the electric transmission system that powers homes, business, and communities across our service territory.\nAs an intern, you will work alongside engineers and technicians on real world projects that support the reliability of the electrical grid. The internship offers valuable technical experience, professional development, and insight into a career in the electric utility industry.\nSupport transmission and substation engineering projects involving high-voltage (33kv - 230kV) transmission lines and associated facilities.\nAssist with Survey, Drafting, and Civil 3D CAD drawings.\nReview engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.\nUtilize engineering software (Civil 3D, HydroCAD, ArcGIS etc.), GIS tools, and Microsoft Office applications to support project work.\nParticipate in field visits to transmission lines, substations, and construction sites to observe utility operations and engineering practices.\nCollaborate with engineers and operations teams on projects.\nLearn and apply Dominion Energy's commitment to safety, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.\nSupport storm restoration efforts.\n Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience\nStrong interest in engineering, infrastructure, utilities, construction, or related technical fields.\nAbility to learn and apply engineering concepts, standards, and procedures.\nBasic proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).\nAbility to learn and utilize technical software, mapping tools, and engineering applications.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAttention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.\nAbility to interpret and work with technical information, drawings, maps, or documentation.\nWillingness to participate in field visits and work in both office and outdoor environments.\nCommitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.\nAdaptability and eagerness to learn in a dynamic work environment.\n Education Requirements\nMust be pursuing a bachelor's degree and majoring in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Forestry (Engineering degrees must be ABET accredited) \nMust have an anticipated graduation date of 2028 or later \nMust have a 2.5 GPA or higher.\nTest Description\nNo Testing Required\nExport Control\nCertain positions at Dominion Energy may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law.
