The program's goals are to attract, develop, and retain high-potential two-year degree students. Upon graduation and successful completion of our program, they may be eligible for consideration for a full-time position in one of DESC’s core businesses.\nStudents will have the opportunity to gain knowledge in the field of electric, gas, and power generation operations which will prepare them, upon graduation, to compete for entry-level, professional positions in the utility industry.\nPlanning and designing electric transmission and distribution systems\nPreparing detailed drawings\nSupporting field operations in performing a variety of equipment and systems testing; supporting design studies and analysis related to electric, gas, and other projects\nMonitoring the installation and operation of various utility-scale projects\nReviewing and supporting project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and providing status reports.\nSupporting restoration efforts following storms and other power/gas outage events.\n2027 Summer and fall positions are planned in the following areas:\nElectric Distribution Operations\nRelay\nElectrical Ops Tech AP\nJoint Attachments\nGas Operations - Distribution Engineering & Construction\nGas System Planning & Hydraulic Modeling\nPipeline Safety Management Systems (PSMS) - Pipeline Integrity Management\nStudent applicants will be interviewed and placed into varying roles at Dominion Energy based on organizational fit and student interest. Internship opportunities will last for approximately 12 weeks during the summer or fall. Part-time opportunities are also available (based on company needs and student schedule)\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience\nMust have excellent verbal and written communication skills.\nAble to work independently and as a team.\nMust have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving history.\nMust live within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned work location and have reliable transportation.\nMust be able to move about freely and perform field work in challenging environments.\nMust have strong computer knowledge and skills with demonstrated ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Office products.\nStudents must also have demonstrated ability to learn and utilize AutoCAD and GIS products.\nMust be able to travel and work outside of normal business hours throughout the company’s service territory.\nEducation Requirements\nMust be currently enrolled in an Associate's degree program in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology\nMust have a GPA of 2.5 or above \nTest Description\nNo Testing Required\nExport Control\nCertain positions at Dominion Energy may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law.
