The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving mechanical and electrical equipment while ensuring compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and operational standards. This role is critical to maintaining plant reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance production efficiency and operational performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capabilities, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.\nRole Responsibilities:\nTo ensure minimum downtime on zone.\nTo ensure preventive maintenance schedules are adhered to and improved where necessary.\nRecommend PM’s on machines if non exist to reduce downtime.\nTo comply with safety and housekeeping procedures and statutory requirements.\nTo record, daily maintenance work carried out, on the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Onkey.\nPerform root cause analysis of unscheduled downtime and record data on Onkey.\nEngage with Onkey Administrator to create new or update existing PM’s to prevent similar unscheduled breakdowns after RCA performed.\nTo assist and develop the skills of machine operators.\nTo identify actual or potential problems and to initiate remedial or preventive measures.\nTo implement QA policies and QC procedures affecting areas under his control.\nReading diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.\nInstalling industrial and mechanical equipment according to layout plans.\nInspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.\nAdjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts.\nOperating machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machines\nSupport the GMR2 in his/her function by acting as a backup and verifying decisions adhere to the OHSA and Donaldson EHS Global Framework.\nTravel: No travelling required\nMinimum Qualifications:\nMinimum requirement is a Millwright qualification or alternatively a dual qualification (Electrical & Fitting).\nMinimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience, preferably in the Automotive Industry\nRed seal experience is a definite asset and advantage\nPreferred Qualifications:\nHighly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (excel, word, PowerPoint).\nAble to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing\nWorking knowledge of safety standards of equipment\nExperience using PLC’s is an asset\nExperience in Arc, Mig and Tig welding\nAbility to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.\nAbility to work in a team environment.\nPlease note that this appointment will be made in line with the requirements of the Employment Equity Act and Donaldson Filtration Systems (PTY) Ltd Employment Equity Policy.
