The role is hands-on and works with strong AI support: an AI coding agent accelerates code generation while the engineer remains accountable for adapting, correcting, testing, securing, and owning the implementation. The role combines deep Java and SAP Commerce engineering with a strong focus on business processes, APIs, integration quality, and reliable cloud operation.\n\nWhat you will do\n\nBuild, extend, and maintain SAP Commerce / SAP Commerce Cloud services, extensions, business logic, and platform capabilities.\n\nTranslate business and functional requirements into robust, tested, and maintainable backend features.\n\nDevelop and consume APIs and integration services for SSC, VCPS, ERP, payment, search, tax, and other third-party services.\n\nWork hands-on with an AI coding agent, then review, adapt, refactor, debug, and harden generated code to meet quality, performance, and security standards.\n\nTroubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and optimize performance, stability, and observability in SAP Commerce Cloud.\n\nCollaborate with frontend engineers, solution architects, business stakeholders, and external partners.\n\nContribute to engineering standards, automated testing, code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of AI-supported delivery.\n\nWhat we require\n\nMinimum 4–6 years of hands-on backend development experience, ideally in e-commerce or digital commerce.\n\nStrong professional experience with Java, Spring, REST APIs, JSON, and service-oriented or event-driven architectures.\n\nGood understanding of catalog and product data, pricing, promotions, carts, orders, checkout, customer accounts, and inventory or availability.\n\nExperience integrating SAP Commerce with ERP, CPQ, payments, tax, search, middleware, and other enterprise systems; knowledge of API security, authentication, retries, error handling, and data mapping.\n\nStrong skills in automated testing, debugging, refactoring, secure coding, performance analysis, and code quality.\n\nAbility to own backend features end-to-end and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nEnglish – Business fluency.\n\nWhat we prefer\n\nExperience with SAP Commerce Cloud composable storefront integrations and OCC extension patterns.\n\nPractical SAP Commerce / SAP Commerce Cloud experience, including extensions, impex, FlexibleSearch, OCC APIs, cron jobs, processes, and Backoffice configuration.\n\nExperience with SAP Commerce Cloud deployment and operations concepts, including cloud environments, configuration management, build and release pipelines, monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting.\n\nExperience with relational databases, SQL, caching, search platforms such as Solr, and application observability tools.\n\nFamiliarity with CI/CD, Git-based development, code quality gates, containerization, and cloud-native operational practices.\n\nExperience working in agile product teams and international, highly integrative environments.\n\nWhat we offer\n\nBest opportunities in a globally operating company valuing diversity, inclusion, sustainability and mutual trust\n\nHome office allowance\n\n25 days paid annual leave\n\nAdditional health insurance\n\n102.26 EUR Food vouchers\n\nPublic transportation card\n\nMultisport / Coolfit card\n\nOpportunity for flexibility with a hybrid working model\n\nEmployee Assistance Program (Mental Health, Legal & Financial Counselling)\n\nLanguage training opportunity\n\nBrand new modern office premises in a class A Business building\n\nEmployee referral program\n\nFresh fruits in the office\n\nTraining and mentorship programs\n\nAccess to over 15,000 LinkedIn Learning courses to assist in your development\n\nWho we are\n\nWe are at the heart of every place that matters.
