What do we need
Geneious-who are part of Dotmatics builds generation defining software products and technologies for molecular biology. By supporting the development of lifesaving therapeutics and vaccines, through to reversing climate change, we are helping scientists make the world a healthier, cleaner, and better place. Geneious is one of the leading bioinformatics solutions internationally and is used by thousands of organisations, from big pharma to researchers in universities.
We are looking for a Java Developer to join our team. You'll be jumping into the well established, agile development team that is responsible for our flagship product: Geneious Prime. Ideally you will be a full stack engineer or have an appreciation and willingness to work on both front end UI and back end systems.
In this role you will get to:
- Integrate new algorithms for analysing sequence data
- Build user-friendly tools for managing biological data and integration with cloud services
- Develop and maintain Geneious Prime and other Java based software solutions.
- Collaborate regularly with colleagues and customers to establish requirements and iterate on designs
- Serve as part of a cross-functional development team and take on testing, documentation and support when needed.
We are looking for people with a Bachelor degree in Computer Science and/or 2+ years of relevant working experience. Knowledge of Biology is not required, we have a team of scientists who will help you learn. You will be an engineer that prides themselves on getting things done and can demonstrate experience in:
The key skills we are looking for are:
- Java frameworks & libraries
- UX/UI front end or Full stack development
- Experience working on complex code bases
You may also have:
- Familiar with CI/CD tools, such as Github Actions and CodePipeline
- Familiar with automated test principals
- Agile software development methodologies and practices
