Are you a multi-tasking, admin extraordinaire? If so, the Doctor Coordinator position is a great way to gain exposure to veterinary medicine or advance your career in the field. As a Doctor Coordinator, you will support the receiving ER Veterinarians by performing administrative duties and communicating with the Charge Nurse in coordinating patient flow in a fast-paced, high volume emergency setting.\nJob duties will include, but are not limited to:\nRecord patient history from the registration sheet into the patient medical record\nAttach rDVM records, pictures, diagnostics, etc. to the patient medical record, and create a written summary as needed in the patient history\nBegin discharge templates for DVM approval and finalization\nDispense prescriptions per DVM instructions\nTrack and help finalize diagnostics\nCoordinate with Charge Nurse to schedule procedures\nCoordinate patient care, such as surgery and ultrasounds between departments\nLocate and room patients\nFollow up on client communications as appropriate\nSchedule specialty consultations for clients\nCreate cost estimates per DVM instruction\nReview and discuss cost estimates with clients\nGet client signatures on informed consent and estimates as appropriate\nSet up for specific exam types including fluorescein stain and ear cytology\nCall poison control, outside pharmacies, or any other organization that can remove administrative tasks from doctors\nWho we are looking for:\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nKnowledge of veterinary practice and safety measures.\nWorking knowledge of veterinary computer systems to input charges and other client/animal information.\nKnowledge in general janitorial and cleaning methods.\nTeamwork and interpersonal skills to work in cooperative and close fashion within critical care environment.\nCustomer service skills.\nAbility to work in stressful situations associated with high volume, urgent care animal practice where accuracy, organization, and flexibility is always needed.\nAbility to have a flexible schedule and work varied shifts as needed, including holidays and on-call.\nUnderstanding of animal behavior and knowledge of safe animal restraints practices preferred.\nSelf-motivated\nAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work with high attention to detail.\nEducation and Experience\nMinimum of one year working in Client Care, preferably in the veterinary field.\nValid driver’s license for driving the DoveLewis transport van desired.\nExperience in critical care or emergency small animal care in private, non-profit, or educational organization preferred.\nAny suitable combination of experience or education may substitute.\nWage: $22-24/hr depending on experience.\nSchedule: Our Doctor Coordinators work an average of 35 hours a week in a 4/3 schedule (4 on, 4 off, 3 on, 3 off).
