The Buyer will work as part of cross-functional team to identify low-cost, high-quality, reliable sources of supply in support of strategic business objectives.\nWhat you’ll be responsible for in this role:\n\nIssue POs daily in response to various demand signals (Kanban, MRP, Min / Max)\nExpedite deliveries to ensure on-time delivery of components to the production line\nWork with other departments to mitigate impact of changes in pricing and lead times\nPartner with engineering to identify alternate materials if delivery would delay production or lead to an increase in excess inventory\nMaintain professional company image and supplier relations through daily business communications\nUtilize ERP system to provide data on demand history and usage for use in negotiating contracts / quotes with suppliers\nProvide forecast of future demand to suppliers based upon historical demand, market / sales intelligence and knowledge of engineering changes\nIssue debit memos to vendors on changes resulting from returned / rejected material\nCalculate and maintain optimal inventory levels to support safety stock needed to absorb demand variation while supporting inventory turns objectives\nSeasonally adjust purchase volumes to support business objectives\nIdentify root cause of errors in material tracking processes, BOM accuracy, UOM conversions, etc. that contribute to supply chain defects\nWork closely with finance and engineering to disposition E&O material\n\nWhat are the basic qualifications? \nMinimum 2 years’ purchasing experience\nBachelor’s degree or 5 years’ relevant experience required\nWhat are the preferred qualifications?\nExperience in manufacturing environment preferred\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook required\nERP experience required, Visual & Oracle preferred\nCPIM certification preferred\nLean and / or CI experience preferred\nTo be a great fit for the role:\nKnowledge & Expectations -Requires working knowledge of computers with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Oracle experience a plus.\nLanguage Skills - Good communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.\nMathematical Skills -Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.\nReasoning Ability -Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.\nMust have a bias for action and ability to make decisions.\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\nPhysical Demands -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
