Dover is a diversified global manufacturer and solutions provider with annual revenue of approximately $8 billion.\nThe Role\nThe mission of the Engineering Manager is to provide R&D leadership for the product line and coordinate a multi-discipline product development team (electrical, mechanical, AME, & firmware disciplines). The incumbent will partner with the Drop on Demand (DoD) cross-functional leadership team to support the delivery of the business revenue and profitability targets included in business Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Plan. They will ensure that projects in the portfolio are properly staffed, efficiently executed and that the technical risks are managed successfully. They will partner with Global R&D discipline leaders to guarantee that discipline best practices are respected, and MI’s platform strategy is successfully implemented.\nJob Responsibilities:\nEnsure all R&D aspects of programs are carried out in accordance to MI's processes.\nCollaborate with the Discipline Leaders and project managers roles to define and execute projects to clear scope, on time, on budget and quality.\nMaintain customer satisfaction at acceptable levels by delivering the proposed hardware value and promptly resolve customer issues which involve product design.\nCollaborate with the cross-functional team to make adequate trade-offs between value creation, material cost, serviceability, testability, changeability, etc.\nDrive quality and efficiency within the embedded software team that is located in multiple sites across multiple time zones.\nBe the change management leader and demonstrate value from the agreed upon company-wide initiatives. Promote platform module adoption in DoD products.\nContribute to the development of a solid DoD hardware and ink product line roadmaps.\nBuild and maintain resource plans of appropriate granularity for the short/medium/long term and, using a skills matrix approach, coach and develop the team accordingly. This should include an active team development plan.\nDevelop new vendors\nEstablish/manage relationship with external engineering service partners.\nDirect R&D personnel from multiple engineering disciplines as an effective team that is committed to organizational goals and fosters collaboration.\nCollaborate with global R&D disciplines to build/recruit/further adjust the team to meet the needs of our programs\nEnsure that our products meet or exceed applicable regulations, certifications requirements and reliability requirements.\nEnsure that engineering discipline standard, methods and tools are developed with the needs of the programs in mind and effectively deployed.\nPromote improved quality levels with reliability engineering best practices and Six Sigma methodologies.\nMonitor operating and capital expense budgets to achieve company objectives.\nAssist and guide intellectual property experts. \nEnsure projects are kept on schedule and work to mitigate issues as they arise\nTrain, Develop, Mentor Engineering Team through the use of a skills matrix and training plan.\nInternational travels: ~1 trips/quarter on average to visit customers and vendors; to other engineering facility in Salem, NH ~3 trips/month on average\nMix of laboratory and office environment\nJob Requirements:\nMasters' degree in a related science field with a minimum 7 years of experience in various R&D roles, including growth thru an organization as an engineering individual contributor.\nMinimum of 5 years, with a PhD, working on new product development projects\nMust demonstrate experience in cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality, Technical Service, Finance, etc.\nExposure to marking and coding equipment is a plus.\nProven track record of managing technical teams to deliver products on time\nPromotes Markem-Imaje core values of integrity, innovation and respect for people.\nHe/she will embrace fully the responsibility and accountability for the results of his/her team.\nIndependent thinker, able to assess a variety of risks and to suggest appropriate mitigation plans.
