The Dow Hayward Site is part of the Dow Coating Materials business, producing paint, adhesives, and other products.\nAs an operator, you are responsible for transferring our product around the plant. You run our water treatment facilities, too. You’ll operate equipment including pumps, valves, filters, and instrumentation. You’ll occasionally troubleshoot and repair failed equipment, so you need to be a good problem-solver. You play a key role in the production of our product. You can work with a team, but you are always accountable for your own productivity. Are you looking for a job you can grow in? Most importantly, you work safely in everything you do.\nResponsibilities\nFollows facility procedures and policies with high level of Operating Discipline to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.\nPerforms field tasks in support of normal plant operation (filter changes, product sampling, material transfers, wastewater treating, material weigh ups, etc)\nMay perform bulk raw material offloads of hazardous / non-hazardous materials\nMay perform finished product loading activities\nPerforms field checks on process equipment. Performs front line troubleshooting and repairs for basic equipment failures or process deviations\nOversees safe operation of batch process. Monitors critical process conditions, equipment, and control systems.\nParticipate in Immediate Response activities for unplanned events: Immediate Response Leader, Hazmat technician. \nPerform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines\nPerforms daily rounds to ensure ongoing safe and reliable operation of critical process equipment\nPerform equipment clearing, decontamination, and isolation activities in preparation for maintenance work\nWrite and issue Safe Work Permits\nCompletes regular safety and compliance tasks in accordance with OSHA, EPA, other regulatory requirements\nUses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant Operating procedures.\nParticipates in Root Cause Investigations for unplanned events. Helps develop and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.\nCoaches and trains others on plant operations.\nPerform housekeeping and other field improvements\nOther responsibilities may be assigned based on job role and department.\nRequired Qualifications\nA minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent\nAbility to work 12-hour shifts, 4-on-4-off, alternating days/nights\nMust be willing to work overtime and holidays as needed\nCurrent, valid US driver’s license (required to operate yard trucks)\nA minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process\nThis role requires the candidate to meet one of the following criteria:\nAn associate’s degree in Process Technology, OR\nA minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience, OR\nA minimum of 6 months coatings manufacturing experience, OR\n3 years or more of relevant military training/experience\nPreferred Qualifications\nProcess Technician Certification, relevant Associate degree, or military experience is preferred\nChemical manufacturing experience is preferred\nControl system experience (e.g. Siemens, DeltaV, etc.)\nAspen Process Explorer experience\nFork truck or forklift certification\nMechanical, maintenance, or heavy machinery experience\nProficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel\nYour Skills\nCommunication: The job requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with team members and communicate operating errors proactively\nTime Management: The role involves strong multi-tasking and time management skills to handle various responsibilities and complete training goals in a timely manner\nMechanical Aptitude: The job includes operating and monitoring process equipment, performing minor repairs, and having mechanical, maintenance, or heavy machinery experience\nProcess Safety: The position emphasizes working safely, following safety procedures, and participating in root cause investigations to identify preventative actions after unplanned events\nAdaptability: A bility to proactively fill gaps in personal skills and knowledge, mentor and train others, and identify improvement opportunities\nPhysical Demands\nAble to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:\nWearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, safety shoes and respirators\nPerforming frequent bending, reaching, and lifting,\nWorking in tight or closed-in spaces\nThis role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
