This role is located in Arab (AL).\nIn this role you will shares responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. You will provide hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for a specific plant. You will require full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. You will act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.\nResponsibilities\nImplements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.\n\nEnsures that the Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety aspects of operating discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of section owner for the EH&S sections of operating discipline.\n\nActs as the Plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.\n\nServes as plant contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.\n\nCoaches teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.\n\nAssists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.\n\nEnsures compliance tasks are completed.\n\nPerforms/coordinates certain Environmental, and IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.\n\nActs an H&S Focal point for assigned contract companies.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nA minimum of a High School Diploma/GED Equivalent\n\nA minimum of 3 years of experience in health and safety required\n\nWillingness to be on-call as needed\n\nProficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly\n\nA minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nAssociate degreeor 3 years or more of military training/experience.\n\nPrior experience in manufacturing preferred.\n\nPrior experience with IH (industrial hygiene) preferred.\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAble to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:\nLift, push, and pull.\n\nFrequent bending, reaching, and lifting.\n\nStand and walk for extended periods of time.\n\nWork at heights, climb stairs and ladders.\n\nWork in tight and closed in spaces.\n\nWear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.\n\nWork in an area of intense or continuous noise.\n\nWork in an area with hazardous materials.\n\nAble to work in all types of weather, including heat, cold, and rain.\n\nUsing hands to reach, grab, hold, etc.\n\nUse foot controls.\n\nBalance.\n\nDo repetitive movements.\n\n Skills\nStrong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.\n\nLeadership - inspire others and lead them through influence.\n\nWork Safety: Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.\n\nEnvironment Health and Safety (EH&S): This is a core aspect of the role, as it involves leading EH&S compliance and implementation of safety management systems, managing permits, and optimizing EH&S programs.\n\nRegulatory Compliance: The job requires ensuring consistency and compliance with EH&S-related documents and submittals, as well as managing permits and compliance programs.\n\nChange Management: The role involves initiating and supporting management of change for EH&S programs and compliance matters.\n\nConducting Investigations: Participating in incident investigations and the corrective action process for EH&S issues is a key responsibility.\n\nCommunication: Effective communication is essential for coordinating, implementing, and optimizing EH&S programs, as well as coaching, training, and mentoring EH&S technicians.\n\nAdditional notes\nDow does not offer relocation if the position is offered to someone who lives outside the area or reimbursement for travel to and from interviews.
