The Opportunity
Downer’s Industrial & Energy business is seeking an experienced Commissioning Lead to deliver electrical pre-commissioning and hydrocarbon commissioning activities across APLNG upstream wellsites and associated field packages in the Surat Basin.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will verify system readiness, coordinate controlled energisation and hydrocarbon introduction, complete commissioning records, and support the compliant handover of systems to Origin Energy operations. You will work closely with construction, operations, engineering, quality, completions and Zero Harm teams to ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, accurately and without adverse impact to existing assets.
When appointed as Lead, you will coordinate technicians and trades, allocate daily work, communicate commissioning priorities, monitor field execution and ensure the team has the competencies and supervision required to deliver safely and effectively.
This is a field-based role involving travel, remote and rostered work across operational hydrocarbon facilities in the Surat Basin on an even time 2/2 roster.
What we are looking for
- An electrical trade qualification and current Queensland electrical work licence
- Current CPR and low-voltage rescue training
- A current driver licence
- Hazardous area competency, instrumentation qualifications, high-voltage switching capabilities, or other relevant permits and authorisations where required
- Experience testing electrical, instrumentation and control systems
- Experience supporting controlled plant start-up and operational handover
- Knowledge of commissioning systems, permits, isolations, stored-energy controls, simultaneous operations and management-of-change interfaces
- The ability to interpret drawings, single-line and loop diagrams, cause-and-effect documents, vendor manuals, procedures and test packs
- Strong fault-finding, functional-testing, defect-management, redlining and commissioning-record capabilities
- Clear field communication, sound judgement and strong attention to detail
- A commitment to Zero Harm, procedural compliance and stopping work when conditions are unsafe or unclear.
