Experience tells you how to actually build it.\nWe’re looking for a Mechanical Construction Supervisor who can bring both.\nWorking across water and wastewater construction projects, you’ll take charge of mechanical work fronts, coordinate crews and subcontractors and make sure the right people, plant and materials are lined up before they’re needed.\nYou’ll own the two-week lookahead, stay close to what’s happening in the field and work alongside Engineers and the Superintendent when technical or delivery challenges arise.\nFor an experienced Mechanical Fitter who has made the move into supervision, this is a chance to put that trade knowledge to good use while taking on greater ownership of project delivery.\nWhat you’ll do\nRun mechanical construction activities across water and wastewater projects\nLead crews and subcontractors through the day-to-day delivery of works\nOwn the two-week lookahead, spot potential delays and deal with them early\nCoordinate labour, plant, equipment and materials so work fronts are ready to go\nWork with Project Engineers to resolve design and constructability issues\nComplete field quality inspections and support ITPs, ITRs and commissioning activities\nKeep site records, diaries, photos and reporting accurate and up to date\nLead pre-starts and make sure SWMS, risk controls and safe work practices hold up in the field\nWhat we offer\nPermanent opportunity working across essential water infrastructure\nA role where your mechanical and construction experience carries real weight\nVariety across construction, quality, commissioning and project delivery\nSuite of Downer benefits, including health and wellness initiatives\nOpportunity to continue building your career beyond frontline supervision\nWhat we’re looking for\nMinimum 5 years' supervisory experience within water and wastewater\nMechanical Fitter trade qualification highly regarded\nWastewater treatment plant experience will be highly regarded\nStrong construction background with experience planning, setting up and executing works\nConfidence managing subcontractors and site-based crews\nExperience with construction programming, quality control and design issue resolution\nFrontline Management qualification or equivalent\nSomeone who notices the problem before it becomes tomorrow’s delay\nAbout the team\nDowner's Energy & Utilities business unit is an integrated trans-Tasman team, providing services and solutions that connect communities to essential networks and infrastructure.
