You will provide practical health and safety advice and coaching, undertake risk based assurance activities, verify critical controls and help ensure work is planned and delivered safely.\nYour key responsibilities will include\nConducting field inspections and observations with a focus on high risk work and critical controls\nVerifying permits, isolations, Safe Work Method Statements and other controls are effective at the point of work\nCoaching supervisors and crews on pre starts, hazard management, inspections and task risk assessments\nSupporting incident response, investigations and corrective actions and sharing relevant learnings with teams\nProviding health and safety input into project planning, risk assessments, change management and high risk work reviews\nChecking licences, competencies, inductions and emergency arrangements ahead of mobilisation\nMaintaining accurate assurance, incident and action records and providing clear updates on emerging risks and trend\nWhat we’re looking for\nYou will bring practical health and safety experience gained within construction, utilities, maintenance or a similarly operational environment. You will be comfortable spending time in the field and building effective working relationships while being prepared to constructively challenge and escalate safety issues when required.\nYou will also bring\nCertificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent\nCurrent driver licence\nWorking knowledge of relevant work health and safety legislation, codes and standards\nExperience with field assurance, critical risk controls, incident response and workforce consultation\nAbility to interpret risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements, permits and competency evidence\nStrong communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills\nSound digital literacy including Microsoft 365 and health and safety reporting systems\nA Diploma in Work Health and Safety or related discipline would be advantageous, as would qualifications in incident investigation, internal auditing, first aid or training. \nWhat we offer\nA role with genuine visibility across frontline operations and the opportunity to influence how critical risks are managed in the field\nThe opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced operational and health and safety professionals\nA varied role supporting Water projects and multiple work fronts\nOpportunities to build your capability and develop your career within Downer\nA workplace focused on collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement\nAbout Energy & Utilities\nDowner’s Energy and Utilities business provides services and solutions across Australia’s essential infrastructure sectors.
