Working closely with the Project Manager and operational teams, you will help deliver the required margin return, improve the predictability of financial outcomes and ensure sound commercial practices are applied throughout the project.\nAs a Project Commercial Manager, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across project operations, with a strong focus on sustainable profitability, risk mitigation, accurate reporting and the timely resolution change on the project.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nProviding commercial, contractual and risk-management expertise to improve project performance.\nWorking with project leadership to develop and implement commercial strategies, operational plans and business-improvement initiatives.\nEnsuring sound financial, contractual and business practices are applied consistently with Downer policies, procedures, systems and Project Management Methodology.\nEstablishing sound and consistent procurement practices for suppliers and subcontractors while minimising commercial risk.\nDrive project cost control and forecasting\nBuilding effective relationships with clients, joint venture partners, subcontractors, supply-chain partners, consultants and other Downer business units.\nDeveloping commercial and risk awareness within the project team through training, workshops, coaching and mentoring.\nNga pūkenga matua | Important Skills:\nYou will be an accomplished commercial leader with strong financial acumen, sound judgement and the ability to turn complex project information into clear, practical commercial decisions. You will communicate and negotiate effectively, build productive customer and stakeholder relationships, and influence project outcomes across integrated teams, including team members who may not report directly to you.\nYou must have:\nA relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent, such as a BSc, RICS or NZCQS qualification.\nAt least 10 years’ experience in a commercial lead role, preferably with contractors delivering predominantly civil infrastructure projects.\nExperience as the commercial lead on projects valued at more than $100 million.\nExperience working across commercial arrangements including construct-only, design-and-construct, Alliance and joint venture models.\nEffective negotiation, influencing, written communication and verbal communication skills.\nA strong customer focus and the ability to identify project solutions that add customer value and support financial performance.\nThe ability to lead and influence people who are not direct reports.\nThe ability to demonstrate Downer’s values of Excellence, Collaboration, Courage and Integrity.
