We’re excited to recruit skilled people from local communities to help maintain and enhance the region’s roading network, keeping Southland moving.\nThe Opportunity\nWe are looking for an experienced Road Sweeper Operator to join our Southland Team (preferably Gore base).\nThis is a hands-on role where you will help keep the local road network, townships and surrounding areas clean, tidy and safe. You’ll operate our sweeper truck across a range of work, including township sweeping, cleaning kerbs and channels, catchpit cleaning, and sweeping ahead of reseal work.\nYou’ll take pride in looking after your truck, completing daily checks and making sure the equipment is operated safely and efficiently.\nDay to day responsibilities:\nOperating the road sweeper across Gore and surrounding areas \nTownship sweeping and cleaning kerbs and channels \nSweeping ahead of reseal operations and other road maintenance work\nCarrying out cyclic catchpit cleaning \nIdentifying and reporting any faults or maintenance requirements \nCompleting logbooks, run sheets and other required paperwork \nWorking safely around the public, traffic and other crew members\nImportant Skills\nA minimum Class 2 drivers licence\nPrevious road sweeper, truck or specialist operating experience\nGood awareness when working around traffic and the public\nThe ability to work independently and as part of a crew\nA strong focus on safety \nWhy you will enjoy working here\nDowner is committed to delivering excellence by ensuring our people have the environment and the means to be successful.
