In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning, organising, directing and controlling surfacing and sealing operations to deliver safe, high-quality, and cost-effective outcomes for our clients. You’ll play a key role in supporting and developing your crew, maintaining a strong Zero Harm culture, and ensuring all productivity, financial, quality, and safety targets are achieved.\nThis is a hands on leadership opportunity suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, has a strong technical background in surfacing, and enjoys mentoring and developing teams.\nKey Responsibilities\nManage and supervise the Whanganui surfacing and sealing crew to deliver works safely, efficiently, and to specification\n\nSupervise and support crews on site, including providing hands-on guidance and training where required.\n\nCoordinate subcontractors to ensure their work aligns with project objectives.\n\nManage site costs, equipment, plant, and materials to minimise wastage and downtime.\n\nLiaise with clients, residents, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and positive relationships.\n\nMonitor compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) requirements, promoting a culture of Zero Harm.\n\nNga pūkenga matua | Important Skills\nTo be successful in this role, you will bring:\nProven experience supervising surfacing or sealing crews within roading operations\n\nStrong knowledge of surfacing specifications, procedures, and quality standards\n\nStrong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.\n\nThe ability to make sound decisions and provide clear direction under pressure.\n\nA proactive and solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\n\nKo wai mātou | Our Organisation\nWant to know more about what it is like to work at Downer?
