Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.\nAbout the Role\nWe are seeking an experienced Defence Training Manager to support a complex Defence capability within the SDAC SPO environment.\nThis role will lead the coordination, development and delivery of specialist training solutions across multiple projects, working closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, Defence stakeholders and technical specialists. You will provide expert advice on training requirements and ensure training solutions are aligned with capability outcomes and the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL).\nWith a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, training governance and specialist capability development, you will play an important role in ensuring Defence personnel and support teams are prepared to effectively operate and support the capability.\nPlease note: Domestic and international travel will be required for this role.\nWhat You’ll Do\nWorking across project teams and stakeholder groups, you will provide specialist training leadership and advice throughout the capability lifecycle. You will lead SPO coordination and communication activities relating to project training, while providing expert advice to Project Directors and Project Managers to help define and develop training scope. You will also lead and facilitate Training Working Groups, drive stakeholder engagement, and review and analyse existing ADF, partner force and other government agency training continuums in accordance with SADL.\nAs well as\nLead the development, review and maintenance of specialist training solutions.\nDevelop learning and training material for Defence personnel and capability support teams.\nPrepare and present training documentation, deliverables, reports and recommendations.\nAnalyse training requirements and evaluate the effectiveness of training development activities.\nWork with project teams to identify workforce impacts and develop localised training plans.\nBuild strong relationships across Defence, industry and other key stakeholder groups.\nIdentify training risks and issues and recommend practical solutions aligned with strategic objectives.\nManage competing priorities, resources and activities to achieve key training milestones and deliverables.\n\nAbout You\nYou will bring a strong Defence training background combined with experience working in complex technical or capability environments. Importantly, you will be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders while also being able to get into the detail of training design, documentation and delivery.\nIdeally, you will have:\nExperience working with Space technology and systems.\nExperience developing Defence training programs and associated documentation.\nExperience or knowledge of Electronic Warfare.\nAn ADF training background.\nStrong knowledge and practical experience working with the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL)\nExperience operating within a classified Defence environment.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nStrong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.\n\nHighly desirable\nMore than five years' Defence training management experience.\nPrevious Defence Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) experience.\nExperience within Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment environments.\nExperience working within an SPO or similar Defence capability/project environment.\nGiven the nature of the work, applicants must also be able to operate effectively within classified Defence environment and must be able to support training development and delivery activities in Toowoomba, Adelaide, Exmouth and Canberra, with additional domestic and international travel required according to SPO needs.\nWhy Downer Professional Services\nAt Downer Professional Services, we’re not just a workplace - we’re a business dedicated to contributing to the shaping of the future of defence in Australia.
