We seek to build a team of experts in tax and technology who are customer advocates and have the mindset to reimagine the services our customers receive.\nThis role is ideal for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of complex features, solving challenging technical problems, and working across both mature and evolving systems. You’ll design and deliver features, troubleshoot difficult issues, refactor existing applications, and contribute to technical design and delivery decisions.\nThe work spans several technologies, with the current mix approximately 40% .NET, 30% Vue, 20% C++, and 10% Angular. We value engineers who think critically, ask good questions, and take pride in building high-quality software. AI-assisted development is a growing part of our workflow, and you’ll be expected to use tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools to increase velocity while maintaining high standards\nResponsibilities\nDesign, implement, and test frontend and backend features across our tax filing systems\nDebug and resolve application issues, improving performance and reliability\nParticipate in design and code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback\nCollaborate with product, design, and QA to scope and deliver reliable features on time\nWrite testable, production-quality code, leveraging AI tools when appropriate to accelerate development, explore options, or improve documentation\nContribute to maintainability not just in your own work, but in how the system fits together overall\nBuild a deep understanding of the tax filing domain, system architecture, and codebase in order to contribute thoughtfully, challenge assumptions, propose improvements, and grow your design instincts over time\nQualifications\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience\nStrong experience developing applications with .NET\nExperience with Vue and/or Angular\nExposure to C++ is helpful but not required. This role includes maintenance of existing C++ applications, so candidates should be comfortable learning and working with C++ as needed\nFamiliarity with Microsoft development tools and workflows such as Visual Studio, SQL Server, and Azure DevOps\nExperience building, debugging, and maintaining production systems\nAbility to independently break down complex problems, evaluate solutions, and drive work through completion\nExperience contributing to technical design discussions and code reviews\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted development workflows such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools, and a willingness to continue developing that skill\nBonus Skills\nExperience with AWS (preferred), or other cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP\nExperience working in Agile or Scrum-based teams\nExperience in highly regulated domains such as tax, fintech, or healthcare\nAt Taxwell, we believe our work benefits from the diverse perspectives of our employees.
