Taxwell is an organization of forward thinkers looking to add industry experts to our growing team.\nPosition Summary\nWe are seeking a Software Engineer II to support and enhance a mix of legacy and modern applications used across customer support and internal operations. This is a backend and platform-leaning role, with the majority of the work focused on C#/.NET, SQL Server, services, integrations, authentication, and application infrastructure. While the focus is backend, this is not a backend-only role. Engineers on this team follow problems wherever they lead, which may occasionally include legacy WebForms pages or support-facing UI.\nOur engineering teams also make significant use of AI-assisted development tools and agentic coding workflows. This role will use AI as part of the development process while remaining accountable for the quality, security, maintainability, and production readiness of the work.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDevelop, maintain, and enhance primarily backend applications and services using C#/.NET and SQL Server.\nTroubleshoot production issues across application code, databases, authentication, configuration, logging, integrations, and deployment environments.\nWork with both modern and legacy .NET systems and make safe, focused improvements to existing applications.\nContribute to the incremental modernization of legacy systems, including authentication, deployment, observability, and operational improvements.\nWork across services, databases, integrations, and support-facing applications when problems cross system boundaries.\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and investigation notes.\nCollaborate with Engineering, Product, IT, Help Desk, Customer Success, and other teams to resolve technical issues.\nUse AI-assisted engineering tools for development, code analysis, testing, debugging, and documentation, while critically evaluating AI-generated output before it is used in production.\nQualifications\nStrong hands-on experience with C# and .NET application development.\nStrong SQL Server skills, including stored procedures and data-driven troubleshooting.\nExperience developing and troubleshooting backend applications, services, and integrations.\nAbility to understand unfamiliar or legacy code and make safe, focused changes.\nExperience diagnosing production issues using application logs, database analysis, and other operational data.\nAI development tools such as Claude Code, or Cursor\nFamiliarity with authentication and authorization concepts such as OIDC, claims, roles, sessions, or platforms such as Okta.\nExperience with source control, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and software deployment practices.\nExperience using AI-assisted development tools or a strong willingness to incorporate them into day-to-day engineering workflows.\nAbility to work effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.\nNice to Have:\nExperience with VB.NET, IIS, Windows services, Vue/TypeScript, & AWS services.\nAt Taxwell, we believe our work benefits from the diverse perspectives of our employees.
