For more information about Draper, visit www.draper.com.\nJob Description Summary:\nThe Senior Mechanical CAD Designer creates designs and technical drawings for fixturing & test equipment. They work closely with engineers and other professionals to create and improve manufacturing systems or processes and develop drawings for a wide variety of machines. Mechanical CAD designer reviews specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts.Job Description:\nDuties/Responsibilities\nPrepare calculations on the proposed machine before completing technical drawings.\n\nSketch and draw up designs using input from engineers and architects on the team.\n\nCalculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysis.\n\nCreate designs in line with company procedure, regulations and client standards.\n\nSubmit drawings to upper management and construction teams.\n\nProvide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the equipment is built properly and according to design specifications.\n\nFinalize designs and send prints to the production department.\n\nServe as a mentor to junior staff.\n\nSkills/Abilities\nExceptional written and verbal communication skills.\n\nExcellent problem-solving skills.\n\nDeep CAD knowledge.\n\nStrong computer and mathematical skills.\n\nStrong SolidWorks and/or CREO skills.\n\nKnowledge of 3DX Product Lifecycle Management tool.\n\nPossess strong organizational skills.\n\nExcellent planning and time management skills.\n\nFamiliarity with MIL-STD-31000.\n\nStrong understanding of ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning & tolerancing.\n\nStrong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.\n\nTeam player able to work in a fast-paced environment.\n\nEducation\nRequires a Technical or Associate's degree in drafting, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering or other relevant field.\n\nExperience\nRequires 10+ years of experience designing in 3D CAD and producing 2D drawings using SolidWorks and/or CREO.\n\nWork experience in a defense contracting environment is preferred.\n\nAdditional Job Description:\nApplicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.\nConnect With Draper for Future Opportunities!
