Provides leadership, coaching, and proactive environmental, health, and safety solutions to ensure federal, state, and local compliance.\nMain Activities/Responsibilities:\nPerform documented weekly inspections to maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of all work areas, employees, machinery, and safety equipment.\nOversees security providers and manages day to day concerns.\nEvaluate all onsite processes for potential hazards by completing Job Hazard Analysis and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazards Assessments.\nImplement site specific hazard control and mitigation methods, procedures, and programs.\nCertifies, coordinates, and conducts any new and reoccurring required safety training for all shifts and departments for all employees and contractors. Responsible for all new hire orientation safety training for all associates and contractors.\nResponsible for training the internal equipment trainers.\nMaintain safety training records and certifications, incident reports, WSIB logs and OSHA logs.\nImplement and lead the monthly Safety Committee meetings. \nUpdate and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS).\nManage the inventory and or purchase of required PPEs and First Aid Cabinets. \nLead safety related incident investigations and reports with detailed documentations in a timely manner.\nCollaborate with Human Resource and onsite management for incidents involving injuries, Workers Comp claims, and substance testing. Provides input on severity and recommends corrective action, up to and including termination.\nEnsure Confined Space, Lockout/Tag Out, and Hot Work procedures, are followed by all employees and contractors.\nImplement site specific emergency response procedures and drills and lead the emergency response teams. \nEnsure the proper disposal of universal and hazardous waste. \nEnsure that OSHA, state, and local regulatory and statutory requirements are met as well as the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and policies. \nLiaise with management to plan and deliver informational and educational safety information and changes.\nConduct safety meetings and safety toolbox talks as needed with all employees, shifts and departments.\nParticipate in audits and inspections as necessary. \nPrepare weekly safety statistics and other reports as requested for the Corporate EHS Manager.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nCompetencies:\nComputer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint. \nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills. \nStrong oral and written communication skills. \nAbility to solve problems.\nAbility to build collaborative relationships and interface with cross functional teams. \nAbility to work under pressure with multiple deadlines. \nAbility to multi-task and prioritize.\nProficient understanding of written and verbal English.\nAn understanding of HIPAA privacy laws and the need to guard personal employee as well as company information.\nBilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is preferred\n\nReporting Relationships and Supervision:\nReports to the Corporate EHS Manager under the supervision of the site Director of Operations and Manager of Operations.\nEducation and Experience:\nAssociate degree in related field, safety related certifications (First Aid Trainer, Forklift Trainer), or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification a plus.\nMinimum 2 years of experience in Safety preferred. \nJob specific knowledge in environmental compliance, OSHA/CCOHS compliance, ability to research, read, interpret, and apply rules and regulations.\nFirst aid/CPR/AED/OSHA 30 certified or willing to obtain certification within 3 months of hire\nYour Physical Demands/Work Environment:\nPhysical activity includes walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to 50 lbs.\nPerforms activities in a warehouse environment.
