DriveNets has raised $587 million in three funding rounds which enable us to dream big and bring on the most talented people.\nThe Role\nWe are establishing a new backend group that will take full ownership of a core application area.\nWe are looking for a Senior Backend Developer who will lead the backend effort end-to-end - from initial architecture and technology choices, through implementation and scaling, and into long-term ownership and evolution.\nThis is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will design, build, and own production systems, work closely with multiple teams, influence product direction, and set the technical bar for the group.\nWe embrace an agile mindset - you should be comfortable with context switching, handling multiple priorities, and adapting quickly to changing requirements.\nResponsibilities\nTake full ownership of the backend architecture for a major application area\nDesign and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend systems\nLead technical design and decision-making, including technology and architecture choices\nWork closely with product, frontend, platform, and other backend teams\nParticipate in product vision discussions, brainstorming, and planning sessions\nTranslate product requirements into robust technical solutions\nWrite high-quality, production-grade code\nDrive debugging and root-cause analysis of complex production issues\nEnsure best practices in performance, reliability, security, and observability\nMentor and technically guide other backend engineers as the group grows\nRequirements\n9+ years of backend development experience\n2+ years of hands-on NodeJs OR Python OR GO experience - or strong motivation to learn and use it in production- big advantage.\nExperience with distributed, high-scale systems.\nProven experience designing and building high-scale, production systems\nDeep understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, and APIs\nStrong problem-solving and debugging skills, including complex system behavior and production troubleshooting at scale\nExperience working with databases (relational and/or NoSQL), including schema design and performance considerations\nSolid knowledge of modern backend technologies and frameworks\nExperience collaborating across teams in a large or multi-team environment\nStrong communication skills and the ability to lead through influence\nNice to Have\n Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker/Kubernetes)\nExposure to caching systems (e.g., Redis) or event-driven architectures\nPrior experience leading a technical area or subsystem\nExperience with Cursor\nEducation And/or Relevant Experience\nBSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent hands-on experience in software development\nIf your experience is close but doesn’t fulfill all requirements, please apply.
