It can land on short airstrips, enabling on-demand point-to-point flights and autonomous logistics even to the most remote locations that would otherwise take days to reach over ground or sea.\nWe are starting with domestic air networks in Europe, bringing back to life the multitude of small airfields that are often unused, boosting local infrastructure and economies.\nRequirements\nThe Responsibilities:\nWorking as part of the DOA R&D team and reporting to the Aero, Performance and Simulation team Lead, the Flight Mechanics and Simulation Engineer is responsible for the following:\nReviewing the existing flight mechanics models.\n\nImproving fidelity of the existing flight mechanics models.\n\nExpanding the existing flight mechanics analysis MATLAB codebase.\n\nMaintaining and improving the in-house flight simulator.\n\nWriting technical documentation.\n\nReviewing existing technical documentation / methodologies.\n\nSupporting the FCS engineer and Aerodynamics and Load Cases Engineer with flight mechanics related activities (e.g. linearisations, trim etc.).\n\nFlight test support at the test site (if required).\n\nYour Qualifications:\nMSc/MEng or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or related field with at least 3 years industry experience (Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering field is preferred).\n\nGood working level in MATLAB and Simulink.\n\nImprovement and maintenance of existing dynamic models.\nContribution to existing MATLAB codebase for aircraft analysis.\n\nGood understanding of data structures in MATLAB.\n\nGood understanding of Model Based Design practices (MBD).\n\nGood understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics.\nStandard definitions of aerodynamic coefficients.\n\nDerivation of aerodynamic coefficients from Boundary Element Method.\n\n(BEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).\n3DOF, 6DOF equations of motion.\n\nStability derivatives, importance and effect.\n\nFlat-earth, and ECEF.\n\nTrim and linearization (coupled and decoupled).\n\nStatic and dynamic stability analysis (coupled and decoupled).\nFixed-and-free neutral and maneuvering points.\n\nLongitudinal and lateral modes.\n\nPost-flight test data analysis.\nFamiliarity with aerodynamic models.\nStability derivatives/lookup tables.\n\nImprovement of existing flight simulators.\n\nFlight test support.\nSupport existing flight tests (full and subscale aircraft) as part of the standard activities of the Aerodynamics Performance & Simulation team.\n\nGood technical documentation writing skills.\n\nGood presentation skills.\n\nNice to Have:\nPrior experience with fixed-wing UAV platforms is a plus.\n\nGood working knowledge of the GIT version control system is a plus (training can be provided).\n\nGood understanding of the working principles of BEM and CFD is a plus.\n\nBasic understanding of Simulink Compiler, C++, and compilation using MSVC is a plus (training can be provided).\n\nWhat we offer:\nA competitive compensation package for a start up company.\n\nLots of opportunities for personal and professional growth on a global level.\n\nTons of work, zero office politics -
