Revenue increased from A$57 million in 2024 to more than A$217 million in 2025, supported by record profitability, a global sales pipeline exceeding A$2.5 billion, and annual R&D investment of over A$50 million. \nSince 2017, DroneShield has grown from 11 employees to more than 550 globally, with operations across Australia, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, supporting customers in over 70 countries. \nThe role is based at DroneShield's Sydney headquarters, which houses corporate, commercial, engineering, and operational teams supporting the company's global growth and customer base. \nAbout the role \nWe are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help build the foundations that enable DroneShield's engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable and secure products. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on Linux platforms, reliability engineering, observability, automation, developer enablement and platform security. You will play a key role in delivering security-focused engineering initiatives across DroneShield's product and internal platforms, helping ensure our systems remain secure, resilient and operationally effective. The role combines deep technical problem solving with a strong engineering mindset. One day you may be troubleshooting low-level Linux performance issues, the next building Go-based tooling, improving platform observability, designing reusable service patterns, or helping teams adopt reliable operational practices. \nSuccess in this role comes from balancing immediate delivery with long-term maintainability, creating solutions that are not only effective but repeatable, scalable and easy for teams to consume. \nIf you're passionate about solving difficult engineering problems, building platforms and tooling that make other engineers more effective, and establishing patterns that scale across multiple products and teams, this is an opportunity to have a significant impact across DroneShield's technology landscape. \nResponsibilities, Duties and Expectations \nDesign, implement and own platform Secure-by-default standards, patterns and engineering best practices \nBuild reusable libraries, services and tooling that can be adopted across multiple products and teams \nBuild Security automation and operational controls \nDevelop automation and internal tooling using Go and other appropriate technologies \nTroubleshoot complex Linux, infrastructure and application issues across development, test and production environments \nDesign and implement observability solutions including metrics, logging, tracing and alerting \nHelp engineering teams establish meaningful monitoring, operational visibility and reliability practices \nBuild and maintain platform services supporting software development and deployment workflows \nPartner with engineering teams to identify common challenges and create scalable platform solutions \nImprove platform reliability, performance and operational efficiency through automation and standardisation \nContribute to architecture decisions and technical direction across platform and product teams \nDocument standards, patterns, operational processes and engineering guidance \nMentor engineers and promote operational excellence across the organisation \nQualifications, Experience and Skills \nStrong Linux systems engineering and troubleshooting experience \nStrong background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform engineering or systems engineering \nProfessional software development experience \nExperience with cloud environments \nExperience building reusable tooling, libraries or internal developer platforms \nExperience designing and implementing observability solutions \nStrong understanding of monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing and alerting practices \nExperience working with distributed systems and production environments \nStrong scripting and automation skills \nExperience with containerisation technologies such as Docker \nExperience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools \nExperience supporting engineering teams and driving platform adoption \nStrong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, routing, firewalls and load balancing \nExcellent troubleshooting, debugging and problem-solving capabilities \nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills \nDesirable\nExperience operating Kubernetes platforms \nExperience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry or similar observability tooling \nExperience building Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) \nExperience with CI/CD or modern software delivery platforms \nExperience with AWS or hybrid cloud environments \nExperience supporting edge or disconnected environments \nExperience within defence, critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments \nNote for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed.\nData Privacy\nDroneShield Group Pty Ltd collects and processes personal information for recruitment and hiring purposes.
